In Your Arms

For the time being, she felt safe
She smiled into the cotton
The smell of roses filled her senses
It felt nice, normal
For the first time in forever
She felt her mother's warmth
Did it have to happen like this?
The red, sticky liquid streaming from her wrists
Pain flashing through her mother's eyes
As she whispered her last goodbye
