Lost Without You

Present Day:

Lilly's POV:

I can hear beeping. I don't know where it's coming from, I can't seem to open my eyes. Where am I? What is that beeping? What's going on and why can't I open my eyes?

Then it all comes back to me. The pills. They didn't work. I thought I took enough to do the job. Why didn't they work. Suddenly I hear a voice, the same deep, hoarse voice that I've come to love.

"Oh, Lilly," He gasps. Another voice pops up, I voice that I've never heard before.

"I know you just see all of the tubes and vials, but she really is in there, she's a tough one, she's still hanging on. You can talk to her if you want, sometimes that helps them, just to hear a familiar voice, that's all it takes to bring them back." That must have been a doctor or nurse.

"Thank you." He says politely. I hear him shuffle across the room and then feel a hand on mine. "Hey baby. So the doctor says I should talk to you and I hope that you can hear me." Yes I can hear you. "I'm so scared Lilly." I can hear him trying to hold back tears. "Please don't leave me, we're going to get married and have kids, and grow old together. Don't you dare give up." I hear sobs rake through him, I want so badly to hold him and tell him I'm sorry and we will but I can't.

"The doctor says that you went into cardiac arrest and your liver is failing. Your going to get a transplant really soon but in order for that to happen, you have to hold on and keep fighting for me. Only a few more hours and then you'll be good as new. I promise." I will try, I just can't help to think what he would be like if I was dead. He was the one that had kept me holding on for so long and finally I gave up but I felt terrible for leaving him.

"Niall and Ella are here too." he continues, "They're not together at the moment, I'm not sure what happened but I think they should stay together. It doesn't take a genius to know that Ella adores him and Niall always seems happier with her in his arms." That was true, but this time he doesn't know what Niall did. It was a mistake and it was good he told Ella about it. Sure Ella was mad at both of us but she forgave me, cause that's what friends do, and as for Niall, shes "moving on"

I hear a knock. "Is it ok if I talk to her for a little?" Ella.

"Yeah of course!" Harry says. I hear some commotion and then Ella's voice.

"Boy, we've had a hectic couple weeks. First the Niall thing, and now this." I want to agree with her and apologize one more time. For a couple minutes there's no sound but the beeping and Ella's sniffles.

"You have to hang on for me. It's not fair that you wanted to go through with this." She takes a deep breath. "You remember that time when we were 16 and Brad Taylor asked you out but you were such a chicken and said no cause you didn't have time for a relationship? Yeah, I kinda set that up. I thought that he was a good match for you, and common no one had turned down Brad! He was the freaking captain of the football team!" Another pause. "I wish we could go back, everything was so simple back then." It was. It was so simple, no jobs to worry about, no rent to worry about, no best friend, boyfriend drama. Just grades and friends.

"I think Niall wants to talk." I hear Ella whisper.

Another shuffle around the room. I can only imagine how this one-sided conversation is going to go.

"Um, hey. God, I can't look at you like this, you deserve to be up and happy and smiling, not lying here with these tubes sticking out of you." He pauses, "I'm loosing everything. First Ella, my flat, I've been rooming with Louis but I think I might switch to try and live with Liam till I can get my own place cause Louis and El are always being lovey dovey and Zayn has Perri and well the only other person who isn't in a relationship is Liam so, might as well." He takes a deep breath. "Lilly I'm so sorry about that night. I know it was a mistake, I shouldn't have done it. I shouldn't have kissed you, I was drunk and I knew Harry wasn't home and you were there, I couldn't help it."
