Ezra P.O.V
How did this happen.
How.
They were all gone.
Everyone.
It was only ment to me a small mission, but I didn't expect that would never come back.I remembered it was just a normal day. I was left in charge of the base while Kanan, Hera, Sabine and Zeb left to on a mission.
Sabine, you told me we could hang out and probably paint something when you get back. Looks like we never will get to paint that picture.
Zeb, you told me not to do anything stupid and not to break anything that belongs to you. I promisedI wouldn't and I'm planing to stick to that promis, for its all i can do now.
Hera, you told me to stay safe. If I knew you were never coming back, I would have told you the same thing and probably have given you a goodbye hug.
Kanan, you told me to keep training while your gone and that if I keep training, I would become a great Jedi. If I knew you weren't coming back, I would have told you you were the best master a padawan could ever have.
I was all on my own now. Everyone was gone. I don't know what to do now. I was left in charge and now general of Phinox squadron since I was the last person in charge.
I walked up the ramp of the Ghost. It was a wired feeling since this is where me and the crew spent most of are time. A ship that was once filled with such life, was now dead silence.
I walked up the ramp, soon a memory came to mind. When I first joined the crew. I remembered how Kanan told Sabine and Zeb to keep on eye on me so I didn't do anything. I remembered how we argued alot here but it was quiet funny.
I made my way around the ship. I walked down the hallway that had all the bedrooms. I opened one, it was Sabine's room. It had so much colour in it and many potures. But probably my favorite would have to be the one on the ceiling. The ceiling picture was off all of us in what looked like a family picture.
But it made me sad. Knowing I'm never going to see any of them again. I closed the door and made it to the next room. It was mine and Zeb's room. Inside I seen my bunch and his bunk. There was my helmet collection on once side od the room while all od Zeb's stuff were on the other.
Knowingthat I'm not going to have a room mate anymore was upsetting. I closed the door again and went to the next room. It was Hera's.
I remembered how when Hera's dad came, me and her we're fixing Chopper in this room. We were talking about family untill her father came in and I had to leave. Again, I was upset that the capitin of this ship was never going to fly it again.
I closed the door, my eyes starting to get a bit watery now. Now the last room. I opened to door to reveals Kanan's room. If was left exsactly how he left it. He had the broken holocron still on his shelf. Good things we don't use them anymore.
It started getting hard for me to keep my emotions in. I closed the door and made it to the cockpit.
When I entered there was a wave of saddness. It was so quiet and empty, drained of life. I made my way and sat in the pilot's seat, Hera's seat. I guess the Ghost is now my ship since Hera isn't around anymore.
I just sat there, silent. I felt so lonely without the crew. My friends. My family. I didn't realize I was crying untill I felt my face becoming damp. If I had gone with them, maybe I could have prevented them all from dieing.
But I can't. There gone. Gone.
I took in a breath to calm myself. They wouldn't want me drowning in my sorrow and mourning about their death's. They would want me to continue their fight and fight angainst the Empire. I suddenly got a call from Mon Mathma from the ship's com.
"MonMathma to Ghost, is anyone there" I herd her call. "Yeah. What's the problem" I responded. "Ezra. Where's General Hera. I need to speak to her" Mon Mothma asked me.
"She gone. I'm all that's left of the Ghost Crew"I explained. "Oh. I'm sorry for your lose. But I must warn you, the Empire has found the location of your base. I recommend emediate evacuation commander Bridger" Mon Mathma told me.
"Understood. I will tell the others" I replied. "Also im no longer Commander Bridger, it's General Bridger" I told her confidently before hanging the call and running outside.
I ran to the command center and there were some other rebels there. "Commander what seems to be the problem" one rebel asked. "I have gotten word from Mon Mathma that the Empire is on their way here. I need you to get on the comm and tell everyone to get everything that's important and to their ship's" I told the rebel.
He nodded and did exsactly that. "Wait who's going to be in charge now since General Syndula is gone?" A rebel asked. "Hera left me in charge of the base when she left, so I guess I'm the new General" I replied. The rebels agreed and left to their ship's.
While everyone did that, I ran to the Ghost and into the cockpit. I sat in the pilot seat and took the controls. "If I scratch the Ghost, Hera is going to kill me in the afterlife" I mummbled to muself as I took the controls and took off.
As soon as the ship was out of the planets atmosphere, 3 Star Destroyers came out of hyperspace. "Oh no. This isn't good" I mummbled to myself. Soon, waves of TIEs came at us. "All Awings, make your way to point 5:2 and jump into hyperspace to Yavin" I commanded the others.
Everyone did as told and jumped into hyperspace and to Yavin, me following close behind. Once the ship was in hyperspace, I sighed and sat back into his seat. If we didn't get out of there sooner, we may have all been dead by now.
As I relaxed, I herd the door to the cockpit open. Wait what? No one eles is on bourd. I swiftly pulled my gun and pointed it to the introder. When I seen who it was, joy filled me.
It was Chopper.
But how? He went with everyone eles didn't he?
"Chopper! What are you doing here" I asked with joy. It's nice to know that I wasn't all that's left of the Ghost crew. Chopper just beeped and made droid noise but replied my question.
"Wait so Hera told you to stay and get charged while they left" I asked him. He replied saying yes. Knowing that then a thought came to mind. Did Chopper know what happened to the other's? I then became saden again.
"Chopper there's something I need to tell you" I told him. He told me he was listening. I took a breath in. "Sabine, Zeb, Kanan and Hera aren't coming back" I told him. He asked me what did I mean. Oh this is to explain.
"You see, when they went on the mission, they were in a Star Destroyer. But before they could get out the..the Empire b..blew up the ship...just to kill them.
Kanan, S..Sabine..Zeb and H..Hera aren't coming back....they're...they're dead" I explained and ended breaking down.It so hard to know that people you care about are gone. First my parent's and now my new family. I herd Chopper let out a sad grumble. After a minute of silence I spoke. "Lets not be upset that they aren't here. Let's countinue what they started, fighting angainst the Empire for a better future. Are you in for that" I asked Chopper.
It took the droid a while to respond but agreed and had a brighter mood. I patted his dome and sat back down in the pilot seat. "Now Chopper I want you to fix the the Phantoms engines and after that, check the comms system. Do you think you can manage that?" I asked the old droid.
He responded yes but in a grumpy way like he always dose as he rolled down the hallway. Although Chopper isn't the best droid, it's nice to have some company around the Ghost.
I leaned back into the chair and stared out and watched as the star's went pass in hyperspace.
"Don't worry guys, I won't let you guys down. I promis".
