Follows Darkness

It was the kind of dark
your eyes couldn't adjust to, no matter how hard you squinted.

At times you'd accept it, most times you'd wonder if you'd ever see colour again.

Then,
without you even really noticing, you saw blue,
and gold in the strands of his hair and red in the relief of your soul when you realized that life

was bright once more.
