It wasn't very clear about how long they were asleep, but by the time Damian woke up he felt like he got the best nights sleep he ever had in for what seemed like forever. He almost panicked when he felt someone practically on top of him that wasn't his little sister. He looked down at Talia's sleeping form, her dark purple hair covering her face almost perfectly. It made him feel weird knowing that this girl, that he hasn't even known for a day, let him spend the night in her bed and cuddled up next to him like she knew him her whole life. She looked so peaceful, although she seemed to be a rolls-with-the-punches kind of girl. He jumped when he felt her shift slightly next to him, making him lose his train of thought.
"I know you're awake, Damian." Talia mumbled, she was laying on her stomach now.
"How long have you up?" He nearly fell off the bed when he heard her voice, it sounded a little raspy.
"About half an hour." She picked herself up and rolled onto her back again, her leg intertwining with his without either of them realizing.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He looked down at her, feeling as though his thoughts might have woken her, even though he knew that wasn't possible.
"You seemed to take a lot of comfort in holding me while you slept, so I didn't want to wake you." She smirked, playing with the fabric on his shirt. "Do you wanna get up? We can get dressed and go do something?" Damian nodded and the two got dressed in their respectful corners of Talia's room.
"Are you hungry?" Damian asked, breaking the awkward silence between them. Talia looked out her window to see that her mom must've left for work, Damian's ride home would have to wait till her mom got back. Which meant they had a lot of time to kill.
"Yeah, I can eat." Talia reached behind her head to braid her hair so it wouldn't get in her face. "Got a place in mind?"
"Uh, yeah. There's this diner that's on Claremont street that I take my sister to every once in a while." He licked his lips in thought. "Is that anywhere near here?" Damian asked, once again forgetting he had no clue where he was location wise.
"Yeah, it's not that far." She checked her phone to see that she had multiple missed calls and text messages from Liam. She sighed, knowing she'd be getting an earful when she finally decided to call him back and 'explain' to him why she hadn't answered him. "We can walk there if you want." Damian nodded again and then they headed out. He noticed that she was tense but decided not to say anything about it. They were halfway down the block when Talia finally texted him and someone else.
"Who ya texting?" Damian asked, looking over her shoulder, which wasn't that hard for him.
"None of your business, I'm just letting them know that I'm out of the house, so they won't have a heart attack if/when they come home and see I'm not there." Talia jokingly said.
"Good idea." He nodded, almost shocked that there was a person's family who cared about the wellbeing of one of their members. "It's right up this corner." Damian pointed to the small, cute diner.
"It's cute." She smiled as Damian opened the door for her when they got to the entrance. "Oh such a gentleman." Talia smirked.
"Yeah, yeah." Damian mumbled sarcastically. "Hi Betty." Damian smiled at the woman behind the counter. "Table for two?"
"No Katie today?" Betty giggles. Damian's face turns a light shade of pink as Betty grabs them their menus. He looked to Talia to see that she wasn't really paying attention as they walked, looking at the 50's décor that the diner was covered in. They were sat in a pink booth, facing each other.
"See anything you like?" Damian asked, looking at her but not lifting his head. Talia looked up at him, a look he never saw crossed over her features before, but it disappeared before he could really tell what it was.
