Scorpina's POV

I looked at Anti, confused as he put his hand behind his back. Soon, he brought it forth and in his hands was a squirming, yipping Rotweiler, Husky mix puppy. I nearly squealed in delight and I went for it but I looked to him for permission. He just chuckled and deposited the pup in my arms and I held on to it happily.

"Anti! He's adorable!" I smiled up at the man before me and couldn't contain myself as I got on my toes and kissed his cheek before hopping downstairs with the young one in my arms, not realizing I left a shocked Anti up at the landing. I went into the kitchen and rummaged through my cabinets, realizing that I didn't have anything this pup could eat. As I backed away, though, I saw cans of soft dog food on one of the three shelves I don't use. Pouting, I put the puppy down on the floor and went to climb the counter shakily. I never liked climbing things as I didn't like heights, and a counter was sadly no exception.

As I stood up on the counter, I had to back away to keep from getting hit by the door and my foot slid off the edge of the counter and I started to fall backwards, letting out a small scream as I closed my eyes and waited for the impact with the floor. It never happened and all I felt was a cool warmth. I cracked my eyes open to see Anti giving me a worried look and as I looked around, I saw I was in his arms. He had somehow gotten from upstairs to down here in the kitchen within miliseconds. Locking my eyes back with his, he let out a sigh.

"Scorpina, what were ye doing?" His voice was soft and I shivered slightly at the sound, blushing and letting out a huff of defeat as my grey eyes fell on the cabinet.

"I saw dog food on a shelf t'at I don't normally use.... So I tried to get it, but t'e door was in my way... I backed up too far..." I mumbled and Anti gave me a smirk. He helped me up and then went over to the cabinet, easily reaching to the shelf and handing me the can of puppy food. I pouted and looked to him. "Ye put it t'ere on purpose, didn't ye?" I asked as I went to get my can opener, busying myself with feeding the pup as Anti leaned on the counter with a shrug.

"I might have, but it wasn't for the purpose of having ye fall and hurt yourself... Could have called me instead." He said as he watched me get a bowl out for the food, emptying the contents and then setting it on the floor right in front of the small pup. By its size, it had just been weened off of its mother, and while I am more for hard dog food, soft dog food for a pup can be easier. After I made sure he was eating, I looked towards Anti with a raised eyebrow and a soft smirk.

"And what if I like being independent?" I asked him while crossing my arms over my chest. Anti smiled, and made a noise that sounded like a mix between a purr and a growl as he took a step towards me. Soon, I was trapped between him and a counter, his arms on either side of me but I wasn't scared. A green flash went through his deep, black eyes and I tilted my head curiously.

"You've been independent yer whole life, love. Let me dote on ye from now on." He whispered before leaning forward so his breath was hitting my ear. Just like his body, his breath was cool yet warm. "That is what my job is from now on, anyway." He didn't pull away from me and while I was confused, a piece of me deep inside knew what he was talking about and was begging me to just let him do what he wanted with me. Pursing my lips together, Anti finally pulled back a little so he could look me in the eyes. His eyes were full of that emotion again, the one I couldn't place and he just smiled at me softly before taking my hand and walking out of the kitchen, scooping up the pup and leading us to the couch. This felt familiar, why did this feel familiar!? Thinking back to yesterday, my brow furrowed as Anti sat me down on my couch.

"What's wrong, love?" I heard him ask and my grey eyes looked to him.

"Were ye here yesterday?" I asked, knowing that the answer was most likely 'no'.
