Chapter 21

I stare long and hard at myself through the long mirror in Kayla's room, an impressed Kayla standing behind me. She claps her hands together.
"You look amazing" she squeals, patting herself on the back.
I turn back to look at myself, my dark brown hair curled nicely while gold eye shadow shines on my lids making my brown eyes pop. I let out a breath and play with the hem of my newly brought dress. I twirl in it. I feel as light as air.
"Thank you Kayla. This was really nice of you."
I did mean it. 
I admit it feels a little easier having someone other than Vince and I know the truth.
Someone that I don't have to lie to...

She brushes it off,
"PSH, no problem" she says, grinning, but then her stare goes distant, like someone is on the other line. She snaps out of it and begins smiling again, her dimples on full display.
"Vince just mind linked me. He's downstairs!" Her grin grows wider, while my nerves start to eat me up whole. She notices my anxious state and walks over to me, grabbing me by the shoulders.
"Dawn, you look beautiful. You have nothing to worry about! You guys are going to have a great time."
I nod and give her a reassuring smile while I feel what I ate for lunch come up in my throat. She takes me down stairs. My heart starts to skip a beat, and I start to smell that delicious scent.
His delicious scent.
Then I see him.

At the bottom of the grand staircase, his hand rests on the railing, looking up at me with his dazzling hazel eyes. My wolf stirs inside me at the sight of him.
He wears a tight fitted black button up that outlines his muscular chest and toned arms, his brown hair is perfectly tousled, and a sexy smirk that threatens to make my knees buckle dances on his lips.
His eyes land on mine and for a split second, I could have sworn his eyes went black.
The color our eyes turn to indicate lust and desire.
I swallow.

Kayla stays at the top of the stairs, probably grinning like an idiot to herself. He watches me hungrily as I make my way down the staircase, holding onto the railing for support. All while reminding myself to breathe.
I give him a small smile as he takes my hand, making sparks erupt while leading me down the final steps. The gesture making my heart flutter.
"You look gorgeous" he says deeply, staring into my eyes. I look down, my cheeks burning.
"Thank you" I mutter shyly.
I notice our still intertwined hands and that causes my blush to turn a deeper shade of red. I turn my head around to look for Kayla, but she has vanished from the top of the staircase, making me frown.
Now it's really just me and him.
The sound of Vince's deep voice makes me look at
him.
"Let's go" he says with a grin, his brown curls falling forward to his forehead.
He escorts me out of his house and we make our way to his car.
I look down to see our hands which makes me smile, but instantly, causes me to pale at the realization that his large hand wraps around my small one, perfectly...

I mean what did you expect? You guys were made for each other. My wolf taunts.

Yea I know that, but it doesn't make it any less surreal, I retort.

He opens the door for me, making me lift an eyebrow in surprise and he chuckles.
"Contrary to your beliefs, I am a gentlemen, Dawn." he says amused.
I just roll my eyes with a smile and buckle in my seat belt as we drive away from the castle of a house he lives in.

"So, where are you taking me?" I say trying to calm my voice so I didn't sound too excited.

"It's a surprise" he says, and without looking I could already feel the smirk growing on his face. I turn to look at him a look of suspicion now growing on mine as he meets my gaze through the rear view mirror, waiting for my protest.
"Oh is it?" I say crossing my arms, trying to stay serious but failing terribly. He deeply chuckles, the vibrations of it echoing deep in my body.
"Yes and you're going to love it" he says cockily as me makes a smooth turn on the rode.
I hum in response, returning to my view outside the window.
We'll see about that.
