The flood

I'm so hungry, I have not eaten in days. I have no where to go, for my home was destroyed. Nobody to call family, accept for my sister. She was taken, by who? I don't know. But what I do know is that who or what had taken her isn't human. When they did take her, they took her under the water. I remember like it was yesterday. The day she was taken almost so perfect, the conditions of the weather were beautiful, you never would have guessed that something bad was about to happen. She didn't deserve what happened. I don't even know if she is still alive or not. But I can't give up hope, and I won't. She is the only family I have left.
When she was taken, it was like any other normal day before the flood had occurred. We didn't have to worry about alligators or snakes where we lived because it's normally too cold for them. My family and I went to the lake to have a family picnic and play in the water and have some fun. My father and mother decided that it would be okay to play in the water only if we didn't go past knee deep, for my little sister has not yet learned to swim... "Go ahead and play. But remember, don't go past knee deep. There is no telling what is down there now, after hundreds thousands of years of this lake's very existence. Who knows? There could be dead bodies down there." Dad loves to tease us, not a day passes that he doesn't. "But I highly doubt that there are any bodies, because they would have rotted and deteriorated by now, plus even if there wereI, then they probably got taken out by the investigators."  Just thinking about the possibilities of a dead body  makes my stomach churn.
There was  a pulling on my leg. I looked down at my 10 year old sister and she asked me, "Are there really bodies down there? Because if there are, then I refuse to go in. You know how it is. Me, I dislike germs. And dead bodies are a good example of germs. Seriously! Do you know how much bacteria is on a human body alone? Bacteria cells outnumber human cells 10 to 1, but since they are so small they make up 1 to 2 percent of our body mass. If there is that much on a live body I can only imagine how much is on a dead body." She gave a face of disgust as she spoke. For a child of such a young age I am curious to find out how she knows such things.
"Where did you learn all that?" She is an extremely smart kid, but I don't think they teach that in fifth grade science.
"You know how I am on my iPad all the time watching YouTube videos? Well sometimes I come across these Science videos and I click on them to watch them." She looks at me innocently as if every other child in the world does the same thing. But little does she know that most kids wont even look at something related to school in the slightest bit unless they are forced to.
"I didn't know that you did such. Keep watching those videos then because you can learn a lot from them and end up being very impressive." My sister truly is something special to this earth. I love her with everything I am. "Now, lets get going and jump in the water before we waste the day away. And no there aren't any bodies in the water, therefore you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Just go swim and have fun. I'll be right behind you. I just have to grab the towel and picnic baskets from the car." I watched my sister as she ran off to the water throwing her clothes on the ground as she went. She wore a pink polka dotted with ruffles swimsuit. I turned to grab the rest of our things from the car that my parents have not yet gotten. I met them at the trunk of the car asking them about when we will be eating lunch.
"probably after we are finished making the san-" My mother was cut off by a blood curling scream that sounded exactly like my sister. We turned around immediately looking to see if she was alright, only to come to find nothing. Absolutely nothing. Her body was gone, no closes were left, no blood, no signs of harm at all. Just the lake. Just as it was when we got there. We ran to the water jumping in, not caring a lick about our clothes or the fact that our things were plastered all over the ground awaiting the ants to eat it. We searched through and through finding absolutely nothing. Not a single trace of my sister was found. Devastated, we stayed, we stayed by the lake all day in hope that she would turn up. My parents kept trying to reassure each other that everything was going to be okay and that theres nothing to worry about. But for a lost cause. She was gone, and she's not coming back, unless found her...
