:Forgive her.: My eyes snapped open as I heard a voice in my head.
Who's there? I tried to jump up but was quickly pulled back down due to the straps around my ankles and wrists. :Relax it's just me.: Looking up my memory came back to me. It's him, Storm. The one that dropped me in the ocean to fall to my death and be eaten by sharks. Not to mention the large cut he gave me on my arm. A look of disgust appeared on my face as I recognized the creature.
:I did not mean for you to cut your arm. If you wouldn't have tried to run away in the first place then that never would have happened. Besides, you did kick me in the face which would have left me with a broken nose. But thanks to my quick healing; which by the way all merpeople have, I would still have caught you and you would still be searching for your sister cluelessly. And creature is very offensive. A dragon is a creature.:
Sorry. But you're not exactly my favorite person right now. What do you prefer? Merman, or fishman? Cause either one works for me. What do you mean exactly I would have been searching cluelessly for my sister? Do you know where she is?
:I prefer merman. But call me Storm.: He paused for a moment choosing his next few words carefully. :We don't exactly know where your sister is. Only a general area. We believe that she was taken by the warm water pod. Which dwells in the Gulf of Mexico-:
I cut him off before he could continue. We? What do you means we? So Serina was lying about not knowing who took my sister? How many more lies will be told? I need to know the truth about her and now. I have to find her, and I won't let these awful heartless creatures get in the way. I will do everything that I can to find her and keep her safe. I made a promise and a commitment to my parents that I would never leave her alone and I will always protect her. Yet I have already failed them.
:Again I prefer merpeople. I was only trying to help you find your sister. And the answer to your question is yes; Serena does know who took her, we all do. But before you can do anything about your sister, you will have to go through the change.:
What is this change that you guys are talking about. If I am going through some change and I practically have another 3 months down here and I don't even know what it is going to do. I can't just sit around for three whole months before I can even begin to search for my sister. I'm going after her as soon as I am released whether you help me or not. I don't care what it takes. Just please help me understand all that is going on. I guess we can start by you telling me what this change is. Slowly I tried to wiggle my feet out the the seaweed bonds that tied me to the bed. One foot is free, I just need the other without him noticing. I slipped my foot through the last loop and I was free. I just laid there waiting for my chance to get away. Please at least tell me your name. If I am going to stay here for a while then the least you could do is help me get to know what is going on and to know about you. I can't trust someone I don't even know the name to.
:Okay fine. Then let's start with the basics. My name is Storm.:
I cut him off again. I meant your real name.
:Look if you want to know things you're going to have listen and cooperate with me. My real name is Cameron. I was born a human but turned into a merman when I was 13. That's was when I started going through the change. And as you can see, I am no longer human. I have not been on land since then. It's forbidden for the merpeople to venture where it is dry. Ever since Serena's dad came to power over our pod, no merperson has gone on land.:
Wait. So Serena's dad is basically the king? If so, then that would make her the princess. Gosh, that's not how I pictured a princess to act. I thought that they were supposed to be nice and fair. But, why did he forbid you to go on land?
:Ever since his wife was killed by a group of sailors, he's banned anything to do with land. I would give anything to go on land one more time. Even if it was just for a second. I miss it so much. Which is why I'm going to help you find your sister. I want to make a deal with you, if you promise to take me on land one day, then I promise I'll do everything in my power to help you find your sister.: For the first time, I saw something in him that I didn't see before. He longed for something on land that he lost a long time ago. It's almost as if I can feel his feelings. But I don't know what it is.
Deal. But as soon as you break your promise, it's off, you'll never go on land. My sister means more than anything to me. I need to find her. But I must warn you, land is not what you think it to be. Well, at least what it is now, it's nothing now. He wasn't the only one who longed for something. I longed for my sister. But there isn't much land left for him to go back to, it's all underwater.
:What? What do you mean by there's not much left of it? Theres thousands of miles of land in the world its endless.: Storm swam toward me letting more light shine on his face. For the first time I got a good look at him. He was beautiful, like an angel. He was unlike any boy I have ever seen. He had dark brown hair, almost black that was short on the sides and a long in the middle almost like a Mohawk but was braided. His hair came just passed his shoulders down the middle of his back that laid perfect between his muscles. He wore a necklace that fell between his chest muscles. He was a little pale with eyes that were green, brown and blue all in one. Like mangroves. His face was chiseled with high cheek bones. His body was sculpted perfectly. Not to muscular and not skinny. He looked to be about my age, 16. If he is 16 then he would have been living in the ocean for about three years. I couldn't imagine staying here for that long. Don't get me wrong, the ocean is a beautiful place... but to live in? Never being able to walk on land again. Never being able to see my family again, or whats left of it at least. I never will be able to talk to my mom and dad again. They died in the flood. After it had stopped raining on September 29, the water somehow magically started to rise in Ozarks lake, not only Ozarks, but all the bodies of water, big and small. My parents were out on a date at the lake when the tsunami came from it. They drowned, and I never saw them again.

He had a blue tail that glistened when the sun shown on it. He was magnificent. He was enough to make any girl melt on the spot, but not me.

He kept looking at me like he was trying to read me or something. After a minute or two, he started to say something but then stopped and hesitated, then began getting again. :How come you don't like me?: He looked puzzled but surprised at the same time. :Normally when a girl sees me they practically melt in place.:
I looked at him ready to give the answer he is not expecting. I do have to admit that he is strikingly handsome, there is no point in doubting that. Look, just because ever other girl in this world flaunts over you, doesn't mean that I will. So, let me be the first. Besides, it's nice to have a change, right?
As I was saying this he changed his expression from curious to blank as if he was dazed or mesmerized by something. He just floated in the water, his arms drooped at his side with his mouth slightly hung open. I waved my foot infront of him to check if he was pulling a trick or something. Nothing. I used this as a chance to untie my seaweed bindings on my thighs. As I slipped each leg out, I looked up after each one to make sure he was still dazed. When I slipped the last one out, I looked up once more to see him wince. I stopped, my heart racing at the risk of being caught. I waited for a second to check for movement, then got up off the bed. He winced again like he wanted to say something, but couldn't. Can he move? Is he paralyzed? Or is he in deep thought and can't seem to get away from it. Just then I heard voices in my head. They were talking, like they were having a deep conversation. What are they saying? I can only make out a few words. :But... she...escape... again? If... then... make... painful.: Are they talking about me? What will be made painful if what happens?
Then I here another voice this time more clear, but with a few words left out, and it's Storms. :Hello?! Is anyone listening...? She's... escape. She's getting out of... Stop invading my... talk to me. I... not jealous! You...! If you don't let me... then I will... Myself.:
:Then leave!: I recognized the voices. The one that wants to leave is Storm, and the one that is jealous is Serena.
I took this as an opportunity to grab Storm's hands. I dragged him over to the bed that I was previously strapped in. He flinched again. I took the seaweed and bound his wrists as tight as possible without cutting of his circulation. I then took the seaweed that was for my legs, tied them together and wrapped it around his tail twice. When I was finished I pulled away from him to only see him flinch again. I slowly swam away from him to the door. I looked back once more taking in everything. He was very handsome. His eyes glisten when the sun shines on them. His hair floating in the water without a care in the world. For the first time I saw something in him. I heard a thought, or a feeling. But then it stops. I hear it again. Yes, it is a feeling. Wait. No, it's a memory.
I search harder, pushing my mind through his thoughts. I didn't know that I could to this. There it is. It's a longing. I see land, and an old man. He looks just like Storm. It's his father. He misses his father. I felt sorry for him. I know the feeling. I miss my family too. And if I wanted to find my sister, then I would have to get out of the water, get out of the sea.
I turned back around to face the door. I opened it, and swam out closing the door behind me. As I swam down the halls I felt a drag like something was pulling my legs. I looked back to see if anyone was there, but no one was. I kept on swimming and felt the same drag as before. I stop and turned so abruptly that I lost balance and sunk to the bottom. I looked down and saw that I was wearing shoes, pants and a shirt. Great. I took off my shoes and socks. Dropped them and kept on swimming. It was slightly easier but I still had too much drag. I have to take off my clothes. I looked around me to make sure no one was coming and slipped off my shirt. Then I slipped off my pants. I was now in my underwear and bra.
Well at least I still had something to cover me. I don't mind being in my garments right now, mainly because I have other things more important to deal with. Besides, it was like wearing a bikini.
I swam down a hall and turned to a door way that had an exit sign at the top. I opened the door and came face to face with the open sea. I could see what looked like buildings beneath me and around me. I know wear I am! I am at the Empire State Building, or at least what is left of it. There was something on my bucket list that I have always wanted to do ever since I saw the movie, King Kong. I still had the bubble around my head allowing me to breathe, so swam up to the long metal needle at the top. It was much thicker than I thought it was. I grabbed the needle and swung around it going in circles acting like I was King Kong.
I laughed out loud as I got dizzy and lost my sense of balance. When I regained my normal state, I looked back up and saw that my boat was still there. I swam to the boat, grabbing the rail. I pulled myself up and as I surfaced the bubble popped. I tried to lift myself onto the boat but was stopped by a sharp pain in my arm. "Right. Damn arm." I swung my leg up out of the water and in the boat swinging my other leg up and in. I lazily rolled in and fell to the bottom. By arm pulsed as blood started to leak through the bandage. I got the first aid kit out setting it on the bench grabbing the gauze to wrap my arm up. I tied a piece tightly around my upper arm to keep the blood from gushing out. I slowly unwrapped the gauze from my arm, careful to not open up the wound. I rewrapped my arm with several layers to ensure healing.
As I got up to put the aid kit away, I heard voices in my head. But this time they were not an argument. They sounded angry and were screaming "find her." Slowly, the voices got louder and louder, which meant that they were getting closer with each second. I ran to the motor pulling the string a few times before it roared to life. I turned up the throttle to full speed in order to go as fast as the boat would allow me to. It didn't take long for five heads to pop up out of the water in the distance just as I turned around the Statue of Liberty.
I kept on going as fast as the boat would go. Only to be hit about a minute later by something hard. The motor made a loud crunch sound and stopped running. My breath hitched in my throat. I rushed to grab a spear, holding it above me ready to strike. The water was still with no sign of movement. I listened for someone talking to see what the next few plans were, but nothing came up. A tail flew up out of the water.
