this gets really intense just a quick beware
Taya was not at school the next day. In fact, she was not at school for the entire week. People gossiped about how she was prime suspect as she was Caitey's best friend and Jeremy's girlfriend. Of course, she did have to spend countless hours in interrogation but there was nothing to pin her to the murders. Officers were confused, why would she carve her own name into the chest of her dead boyfriend anyways? Nothing was making any sense. Police waited for the file on the finger print found by the window, but officers believed they managed to somehow screw it up as the report wasn't in the following day.
The officers did manage to figure out that all five murders within the last three weeks were by the same person. Each murder was committed using the same sloppy technique, but each time was more gruesome and aggressive.
Michael was on top of the world, he couldn't believe he hadn't got caught yet. He felt supreme compared to everybody else, even though there was nobody to congratulate him or cherish him for his crimes. He tried not to let it all go to his head, as most good things usually come to an end. But never mind that! Michael was ecstatic and hyper, he was not worried about some cops trying to find him in the slightest bit.
Rumours flew around the school that some kid named Jackson Hudson was having a party this tonight. Maybe a night out partying and having drinks would do Michael some good, he thought about every drop of stress leaving his body as imagined chugging beers and dancing with girls that barely wore enough clothing. Seemed like a perfectly normal, high schooler thing to do. Not only was it a teenage cliché to Michael, it was an opportunity. An opportunity to do another kill. He thought about the party some more as he walked to his next class.
Michael walked with his head down, his old and ratty Converse seemed very interesting to him as he slowly made his was to Biology class. He peeked up, only to run into a kid with blonde hair.
"Hey, sorry." Michael apologized.
"Yeah, no problem. Oh, hey Mikey!" Luke, the perky blonde boy, greeted.
"H-Hi, Luke." Michael stuttered, surprised that Luke still remembered his name.
"Don't got a lot of time here, but are you going to Jackson's party on Friday?" Luke asked, smiling a classic pretty-boy smile. Michael nodded. "It's going to be great. Hey, come hang out with me and my friends, it's going to be nice hanging out with you again man."
"Yeah... Sure." Michael said unsurely. Luke and Michael never 'hung' out, they were simply paired up to do a stupid History project together. But Michael didn't mind Luke's outgoing friendliness, in fact Michael was excited to go to the party and not look like a total loser.
Luke smiled, "nice! See you later, yeah?" He said before turning around and walking down the hallway.
Michael continued his walk to class, thinking about the party. He was really excited to go now, maybe he would earn himself a couple of real friends. Plus, maybe having friends would put him even farther from the suspect list because he wouldn't be a shy outcast anymore. Everything seemed to go perfectly for Michael.
...
Michael could hear the insanely loud music from his house, so he assumed it was only a couple blocks away. He looked at himself once more in the mirror, he wore black jeans, a GreenDay shirt and black converse. He patted around his pockets to make sure he had the things he would need - his trusty pocket knife, a small wad of money and his cellphone.
He went down stairs and headed for the door, not bothering to tell his mother where he was going as she wouldn't care anyways. He walked down the streets with his hands in his pockets, fiddling with his knife. He followed the cars that seemed to be going in the same direction. The music go louder the farther he walked, but as he got closer he could hear the yelling and shouting from his peers. He smiled as he neared the house.
