“That’s awesome! We definitely need a lot more help today than we did when we moved in,” Aden said.
“Yup,” I said as I heard a car door shut outside, “They’re here.”
I walked over and opened the door as Ethan and Greg came running into the house, like, I’m not even joking! Full speed RUNNING into the house!
“Whoa whoa, where’s the fire?” I asked them.
“Huh?” Greg replied as he slammed himself down on the floor.
“Never mind, where are grandma and Abree?” I asked him.
“Outside looking in the car,” Greg said.
“Okay, well Jake, stay in here with these kids while Aden and I go start hauling stuff in, please,” I said.
“Okay,” he replied.
Aden and I walked out the door and over to the car, where my parents were talking about something that they obviously didn’t want us to know about because they stopped talking as soon as we walked up to the car.
“Hey mom!” I said happily as we walked up beside them.
“Hey kid, how’s it going?” she asked.
“It’s going,” I told her.
“So, we kinda need your help getting this stuff into the house,” Aden said.
“Yea, we’ve noticed,” said my mom.
“Okay so let’s get started so we can get it done,” I said as I started grabbing things from the back of the car.
About two hours later everything was in the house and in the right rooms. I asked my mom and Dave if they’d stay to help paint.
“Yea, we’ll stay and help,” Dave said.
“That’s awesome! Five people painting will definitely work better than just three,” I said.
“Okay so who’s first?” Aden asked.
“Well, I’d kinda like to get Abree and Greg’s room painted first so they can sleep in there tonight,” I said to him and then I turned to my parents and said, “Me and Aden will do our room and Abree’s room and you guys could do Ethan’s room.”
“We can sure do that hun,” my mom said.
“Jake!” I called.
“Coming!” he replied.
I heard footsteps come up the stairs and when he was all the way up here I said, “Will you keep an eye on the kids downstairs while we get started painting?”
“Yup, sure thing,” he replied as he ran back down the stairs.
Aden and I got started painting in the little kids’ room and we got that finished within an hour. I walked into Ethan’s room to see how mom and Dave were doing and when I walked in I saw that the entire room was painted but they were nowhere in sight. I walked into Jake’s room and found them painting in there already.
“Man! You guys are fast!” I said as I walked through the doorway.
“Well we figured since the right color paint was already in the right rooms we’d start on another room,” Dave said.
“That’s awesome! We just got done with Abree and Greg’s room,” I said, “Now we’re going to do Aaron’s room.”
“Okay well, we’ll be here,” my mom said.
“Alright, see you in a bit! And thanks again for helping us! We really appreciate it,” I said as I turned toward the door.
“Anytime baby girl,” my mom said as she smiled a big wide smile.
