Before leaving town, Edie and her new companions made a few stops. First, they went to the Pokémart (yeah I know there isn't actually one there, that the player lives next to Elm and there's no Pokémon Center, but I don't really care lol) to stock up on Potions and get some Pokémon food, and then after stopping to get Edie some human food, they were on their way. While they were walking, Edie began chatting with Rotom. She asked him about himself and what he could do, and discovered that he could do more than what the professor had mentioned. Rotom excitedly let her know that he can search the Internet and can even stream shows. She told Rotom all about her family, how her dad works for the Johto branch of ClemonticGear and her brother Thomas, who can't wait to start a journey of his very own.
"So what does your mom do?" Rotom asked. Edie stared at the ground for a moment before she answered, "She's a stay at home mom now, but before she married my father, and had us kids, she was Grand Champion." Rotom looked confused.
"Grand Champion? What is that?" Edie stared at the ground again, and replied, "It's when you're Champion of all of the regions all at once. It's super hard to do, and besides my mom, only three other people have held the title, and all of them were male. My mom wants me to follow in her footsteps and be the second woman, and the youngest person to hold that title." Rotom looked impressed. "So, who were the other Champions? I mean, I could just search it, but I'd rather ask you," if electronic devices could blush, that's what Rotom would have been doing. Edie smiled sweetly before she answered his question. "Well, the first person to do it was a man named Riker, back about eighty or so years ago. The Pokémon league as we know it has only been around for ninety some years actually. Riker held his title for three years before someone defeated him in the Unova league. Then, about fifteen years after him was a man named Lars. He held on to his title for only one year before he got beaten in the Hoenn league. And then, about twenty years ago a guy named Ash held the title. He's had it the longest so far, seven years. It probably would have been longer, but he chose to step down so he could have a family, and concentrate on other things. And finally, my mom. She took the title a year after Ash stepped down, the shortest amount of time between Grand Champions. She held the position for five years before she was beaten in the Kalos league." Rotom looked even more amazed, if that was possible.
"Wow," was all he could say. Chikorita looked impressed as well.
"Hey, you guys want to stop here? We can set up camp for the night. It'll be dark soon, and besides, I'm hungry," Edie looked to her partners for confirmation of this idea. They both nodded. Edie quickly set up her tent, and then she set to work getting dinner ready. Because they were just getting started, she settled on just having a simple sandwich with some Tofurkey on it. She set out a bowl full of Chikorita's food, when she realized she had no idea what Rotom ate.
"So, uh, what am I supposed to feed you?" She asked.
"I eat electricity. So if you have any batteries, those are easiest. Two triple A should be enough." Rotom replied. Edie dug the batteries out of her backpack, mentally jotting down a note to buy a big pack of batteries next time they were at the store.
"Chiko!" Edie's head snapped up to see what had frightened Chikorita. She heard a snickering, and looked over to find a Sentret standing about ten feet away holding some of Chikorita's food in its paws. So! That's all for this part. I don't really have much to say, besides that you'll be meeting the other main characters soon. Chapter 4 should be out shortly, so stay Elegant!
