Keys to the Crown

Violet City

   "A-a shiny? What's that?" Edie looked confused.
   "Shiny Pokemon are Pokemon who are born with different colored palettes. They're extremely rare, and hard to find. You're so lucky to have found one!" Holly explained. Edie turned to look at Hoothoot.
"So, you're shiny? Is that why your flock wanted to get rid of you?" Edie asked the bright yellow bird Pokemon. Hoothoot nodded sadly.
"That is so COOL!" Edie squealed, making Hoothoot jump a little. "I mean, not the flock abandoning you part, but the being shiny part of course," Hoothoot smiled, happy to have so many new friends.
After a delicious breakfast, courtesy of Elliot, the kids packed up the campsite, before continuing on towards Violet City, and Edie and Liz's gym battles.

"Look! There's the Pokemon Center!" Edie pointed excitedly ahead of her.
"I'm going to go heal up, and get ready for my gym battle, do you want to come?" Liz asked Edie.
"Sounds good, that's what I was planning to do anyway," Edie replied.
"I'm going to take Holly home, how about I meet you two in front of the Center in forty-five minutes?" Elliot added.
"But. . . why would you come all the way back to the Pokemon Center when you already live at the-" Holly's sentence was cut short when Elliot clapped his hand over her mouth.
   Holly wiggled out of her brother's grip and continued, "You're gonna have to tell them sooner or later, because someone at the g-mmphghph." Elliot had covered Holly's mouth again, cutting her off for the second time in as many minutes.
"I'll meet you back here," Elliot repeated, before dragging Holly down the road, past the Pokemon Center.
"That-that was weird, right? I didn't just imagine it?" Liz asked Edie as they walked into the Pokemon Center.
Edie nodded as she handed Nurse Joy her Pokemon, "I agree, that was very odd. Elliot's been acting weird ever since we got into town."
"Well, now's not the time to dwell on that, I'm getting pumped for my battle!" Liz shouted, as she struck a battle pose. Edie giggled, and she she realized she felt a little warm and fuzzy inside. Hmm, guess I'm just a little hungry, she thought. We have been walking for a while. "I'm going to go get a slice of pizza from the place across the street, you want anything Liz?"
"Yeah, thanks! Can you get me a slice of veggie pizza, please? Thank you!" Liz replied.

Edie ran to the pizza place, and quickly came back with the slices and a few drinks.
"Here, while you were gone Nurse Joy returned your Pokemon. She says they're now in tip-top condition." Liz handed Edie Hoothoot and Sentret's Pokeballs, and Chikorita rubbed up against Edie's leg.
"Here's your pizza, Liz, got you a drink too."
"Thanks, let's eat!" Liz grinned.

The two ate in comfortable silence while they waited for Elliot to come back. Edie glanced over to the TV. On the screen, she saw a girl and her Sylveon doing some sort of choreographed dance.
"OK, we've got about ten minutes until Elliot gets here, want to wait outside?" Liz checked her Pokétch.
"Wha-huh?" Edie tore herself away from the screen, where she was now watching a different girl perform. "Yeah, sure, let's go wait outside."

They headed outside, and a few minutes later, Elliot ran up. "Hey guys, ready to battle?"
"YEAH!" Liz yelled, striking her battle pose again.
Edie, who was still distracted by whatever she'd been watching on TV, gave a half-hearted fist pump, and said, "Yeah, let's do this!"
"Well then, let's go!" Yelled Liz before taking off to the right.
"Liz! Wrong way!" Elliot called after her. "The gym is this direction," Elliot pointed back the direction he'd come from.
Liz spun around, and started heading the way Elliot pointed. "C'mon Slowpokes! Let's move!"
Elliot smiled at Edie, "I guess we'd better follow her, huh? Don't want her getting lost!"
Edie nodded, and started following Elliot, but she still couldn't get those performances out of her head.
