The next morning Edie woke up to the smell of something sweet. "Are those pancakes?" She mumbled, still trying to wake up.
"Yeah, I was up anyway, so I figured I'd cook us something to eat," Elliot said.
"Sweet! I didn't know you could cook!" Edie grinned, finally getting up.
"It's no big deal, I cook all of the time at home, to help out my mom and stuff. Besides, I enjoy it." Elliot said, looking the teeniest bit embarrassed.
Elliot sent his Pokémon out to join Edie's, and they ate. After breakfast, everyone lent a hand, or paw, to cleaning up the campsite. It went quickly, especially once Rotom started playing music. Elliot then sent his Pokémon back into their Pokéballs, and they set off again. Edie and her companions reached their destination, Cherrygrove City, just after lunch, so their first stop was a small café at the edge of the city. As Edie pushed open the door, a blur of red and yellow raced by.
"Sorry!" Yelled a voice that Edie figured went with the red blur.
After everyone finished their meals Edie and Elliot stopped at the Pokémart so they could each grab a few extra Potions and some more Pokéballs. Then they went to the Pokémon Center so they could heal their Pokémon, and check into one of the rooms.
"Hi! Would you like to rest your Pokémon?" A lady with pink hair standing behind the counter asked Edie and Elliot as they walked up.
Edie looked confused. "Aren't you the same Nurse Joy as the one in New Bark Town? How did you get here before me? And if you're here, who's manning the center there?"
Nurse Joy smiled and shook her head like this wasn't the first time someone had asked her that. She pulled a creased, well-worn photo from her pocket and unfolded it for what was likely not the first, or last, time that day. "You see," she explained, "the Nurse Joy in New Bark Town is actually my little sister. All of us Nurse Joys are related in some way. You can tell us apart by the different colored nurse crosses on our hats."
"Oh! That makes much more sense!" Edie exclaimed, as she handed Nurse Joy her Pokémon. "Thank you."
After Elliot handed his Pokémon in, he and Edie took a seat on the couches in the waiting area. Suddenly, they heard a shout.
"BIG BROTHER?! IS THAT YOU?" Elliot turned around.
"Holly? What are you doing here?" He asked the young girl. Edie thought she was around eight, same as her brother.
"Daddy sent me to get a Mystic Water because the Pokémart at home is out. And I know what you're thinking, but I didn't come alone. Daddy sent Growlithe to keep me safe. He's getting a checkup right now so that he'll be ready to go home." Holly defended herself. Then she noticed Edie. "BIG BROTHER! You didn't tell me you had a GIRLFRIEND!" She squealed. Edie could tell Elliot wanted to just fall through the floor.
Through clenched teeth he growled, "she is not my girlfriend. I met her in the forest the other day and she happened to be on her way here, so we joined up."
"Hi. I'm Edie," Edie extended her hand for Holly to shake.
"Nice to meet ya. I'm Holly," she replied, taking Edie's hand.
*Ding ding ding!* "Edie, Elliot, your Pokémon are looking nice and healthy," Nurse Joy reassured us when we went up to collect them. "And Holly, your Growlithe is looking just fine as well," she continued as she handed Holly a Pokéball that Edie figured was Growlithe's.
Edie let Sentret out so that she could be with Chikorita. When Holly saw them she shrieked, "can I brush them? Can I? Can I?" Edie nodded, getting out a brush for the little girl to use.
"Here you go, just be gentle," Edie told her.
"I do this with Daddy's Pokémon all the time! I know what to do!" Holly said proudly as Sentret followed her back to the couches. Chikorita stayed next to Edie though.
"You can brush Sentret, but it looks like Chikorita wants to stay with me, okay? You can brush her later," Edie said.
"Okay!" Holly smiled as she began to brush Sentret.
"Hols, I'm gonna call Dad, and because it's late, I'm going to let him know you'll spend tonight here at the Center with us, and we'll all be back tomorrow, 'kay?" Elliot asked his younger sister.
Holly shot him a thumbs up before going back to brushing Sentret.

Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait, and awkward ending. It's kinda late as if this first posting, almost twelve where I am so I wanted it to be shorter. Plus there's probably a few grammatical errors and such because I'm a bit tired, but I'll get those sorted out as time goes on. Next chapter soon, so until then, have a great summer, and stay Elegant!
