Three family members and a close friend were found guilty after neglecting horses in the same field as a rotting carcass and poisonous weeds.
Seven horses were being kept on land filled with ragwort, a poisonous plant, in South Ash Road – a dead horse was also discovered.
Among the animals neglected were a Shetland pony and her foal who were both very thin and riddled with worms.
A thin skewbald pony also had a worm burden, while two foals were suffering from an untreated respiratory condition. A very thin mare and a colt who had very poor hooves were also found.
