Calum's POV
"Daddy, what happened to mommy?" I heard my 6 year old son, Kaden ask. Hearing such a difficult question to answer asked in such an innocent voice made my heart ache.
"Well buddy, how about we start with when your mommy and I met? Is that okay bud?" I asked him, sitting down on the couch, patting my lap so he would come sit on it. I watched his eyes get big as he crawled over to me, looking nervous.
"Kaden, your mommy is the most important person I have ever met in my entire life. We actually met by accident, I bumped into her and knocked her over at a concert when I was about 16." I smiled into the memory, my eyes starting to well up with tears at the thought of the first time we met.
I was just standing in the crowd, swaying gently with the people around me as we listened to one my favorite band, Mayday Parade perform one of my favorite songs, Terrible Things. I turned around to look for my friends, knocking over a girl in the process. I bent down to help her up, and I was met with the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
"Was she pretty daddy?" I laughed at this question, nodding my head.
"Yea buddy, she was the prettiest girl I've ever seen in my life, I still remember exactly what she was wearing too." My tears started to drip down my face one by one, slowly.
"I-I'm so sorry, here let me help you up."
"Thanks" she said while giggling.
"Oh my god" I thought to myself. Her laugh was perfect. I could listen to her laugh for days on end and I would never get tired.
"What's your name cutie?" I asked her, blushing slightly. I had never been this forawrd with a girl before, but something was different about this one. She was absolutely breath-taking.
"I'm Skylar" She said gently, looking down as if she were trying to hide a small smile on her face.
I tilted her chin up and introduced myself. "Hi Skylar, I'm Calum"
"What did she look like Daddy? What made her so pretty?"
"I think it was her eyes. You have the same eyes as her Kayden, such a nice deep green. Do you know her full name?" I asked, realizing that since we never talk much about Skylar, Kayden probably doesn't know much about her.
I watched as he shook his head no, then took a deep breath before telling him. "Her name was Skylar Kayden Brooks before we got married, then she was Skylar Kayden Hood." I felt my gut wrench as I said this, it had been so long since I said her full name, one of the most fluid perfect names i've ever heard.
"Hey thats my name!" my little boy exclaimed smiling.
"Yea bud! You were named after her. She originally wanted to name you Calum jr, but I convinced her out of it" I said.
"Anyway Daddy, get back to the storyy!"
I laughed and continued;
She looked at me for a minute, analyzing my face quickly.
I pulled funny faces just so I could hear her laugh again. After succeding, I asked her why she just stared me down for a solid two minutes. She laughed, yet again, at my question, and just shook her head.
"C'mon Skylar, tell me!"
"Well its just, you're really cute" She said shyly, looking down biting her lip.
"You really think I'm cute?" I questioned her. I watched as she nodded her head shyly.
"Weeeelll, it just so happens that I think you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life, and I would really like to get your number and take you out for a picnic this Saturday if thats okay with you?" I said in one big breath.
Those words were all it took for me to start the craziest journey of my life, with Skylar never leaving my side.
(A/N: Okay I know this is super short, but the chapters will start being longer as the story progresses, this was basically a filler just explaining how Calum and Skylar met. Feedback is very greatly appreciated because this is my first fanfic and I want it to be the best it can be for you guys!! -Amy(: )
