Skylar's P.O.V
We pulled into the grassy area, known as the parking lot, and Lucas turned off the engine. All of us walked to the front gate. I paid for all our tickets, gave them to the guy standing in the booth and got our hands stamped. I'd say practically everyone in town was here, and that's not saying much. We all stopped just inside the gates, taking in all the stuff. The fair people have gone all out this year. There is stuff that I've never seen in all my years of coming to this fair.
"Where should we go?" Lucas asked.
" Let's go on the Ferris wheel. It's up really high and you can see all the rides from the top." Sammy responded.
We linked arms and skipped off to wait in line. The line wasn't very long. I guess people were too chicken to ride it. Wimps. The wheel stopped turning and there was a seat open. Lucas, Sammy, and I took it. We pulled the safety bar down over us. The operator pushed a lever and the ride started. We went around time and time again at full speed. Suddenly we stopped at the very top. The sun was going down. It was sitting on top of the horizon. Soon it would be completely gone along with the beautiful colors it brings. The moon would soon appear and the night would be dark and warm. The stars would be twinkling bright, just like they always do. The colorful lights of the fair would soon be lit up to give light. I looked out and I could see everything. Houses, barns, field upon field. I could see the lake and dock we had just come from, the water as still as could be.
" Now that we can see everything where should we go next?" I asked looking out at all the rides.
" I personally want to go on the drop tower, the hangliders and the merry-go-round." Sammy stated, pointing to the rides as she said them.
"I was thinking the same thing." I grinned.
" You guys are so childish." Lucas exclaimed.
" You know you love us." I insisted. I grabbed his arm and layed my head on his shoulder.
Sammy shot me a glare and I let go.
" Guys..." I said.
" What?" Sammy questioned.
" Picture time!" I continued pulling out my phone. Sammy and Lucas pulled out their phones and we snapped a billion pictures. When I stopped and looked through my pictures I had 203. The wheel continued and the ride was eventually over. Lucas unlatched the bar and we stepped off. Sammy and I walked down the ramp, Lucas slowly following.
"C'mon slow poke. You're not 100 years old." Sammy called. Lucas ran dumbly and stood behind us really close. He put on a creeper face and got up close to us.
" Okay, I think you can back off a little bit." I smiled, stealing hit hat as I pushed him away. Lucas stumbled backwards. He regained his balance and began to walk normal again.
" You know you're not getting this back don't you?" I remarked. Lucas nodded his head and kept walking. We eventually made it to the hangliders and there was a seat open. We got on and rode it at least 3 times. When it was finally over we got on the drop tower.
"Are you guys sure your ready for this?" Lucas asked as we started to rise higher into the sky.
"No." Sammy admitted.
" Well it's kinda late to say that now." Lucas pointed out.
The drop tower went to the highest it could possibly go. Everything was still. All of a sudden it drops. All the girls and some guys around us let out a screech. My heart felt like it had just jumped out of my chest. It went up again, and dropped even faster and lower. The tower did this a couple more times and then it began to slowly lower us back down to the ground. As it stopped I unstrapped myself, as did Sammy and Lucas. We walked down the stairs onto the grass. It was dark now and the lights of the fair were shining bright. The moon and the stars were u in the sky shining bright. The night was cloudy. I have a feeling that it's gonna rain either tonight or early tomorrow. In the distance I can hear the trucks revving up for the pull. A group of guys came toward us. As they got closer I recognized them as Lucas' friends.
