Ch 11: 7 Moons of Madness
(Y/N) POV
Moon 3
I was currently hiding myself in the library with Alexandra and Mana, trying desperately to avoid my ever loving husband. Ever since I had found out about my pregnancy, Atem had somehow become even more protective than he had been! He declared I was to stay by his side, surrounded by guards or Muhad at all times, even through those dreadfully boring meetings. I wasn't even allowed to work on documents and papers, which I normally did know to help Atem not over work himself! And at dinner, Atem made sure to have the servants taste all the food took make certain nothing is poisoned, forgetting I can practically smell poison a mile away.
I love Atem dearly, with all my heart, but he was driving me crazy!
"I know it's tough (Y/N), but Atem is only doing this because he cares so deeply about you and your child!" Mana reassured. I sighed.
"I know Mana, and I'm truly touched he cares so much about us, but I'd like him to remember once in awhile how I came to be here in the first place," Alexandra huffed.
"He's a man, they feel we are delicate flowers unable to defend ourselves so they take it upon themselves to do it!" I detected a bit of spite in her tongue. I chuckled.
"Judging by your attitude, I'm guessing you and Seto are experiencing bumps in your relationship," this seem to set her off.
"Of all the inconsiderate-! When I volunteered for a thief hunt in your place, he said it was 'man's work' and 'no place for a woman'! It's like he's forgotten who was better at swordplay in our youth! At least Atem has a reason to keep you here your highness, you're pregnant and really shouldn't be stressing the baby, but I'm completely able! Grr!" She began hyperventilating and I rubbed her back.
"That's it, let it all out friend,"
"You're just happy it's Seto I'm angry at,"
"I won't lie in front of the baby,"
We laughed, the tension slowly slipping from the air. Mana then turned to me with curiosity in her eyes.
"Since you brought it up, have given any thoughts to names?"
"Atem and I haven't really discussed it, but I did promise myself that if I were to have a son, I'd name him Leo,"
"Leo? That's an interesting name,"
"It refers to a constellation in the sky of a powerful lion which appears during the spring season. I want to my son to have the strength and pride of a lion when he grows,"
"Fascinating," Alexandra whispered.
The doors to the library sprang open, making the 3 of us jump. I then groaned at the familiar footsteps of my husband.
"(Y/N)! I was so worried when I couldn't find you! Where have you been?"
"I've been here the whole time Atem, and I wasn't alone, I had Alexandra and Mana with me,"
"Still, you should be with at least one capable guard!"
"Excuse us?" Mana growled. Atem gulped.
"What I meant was, a guard trained in advance combat!" Alexandra rolled her eyes.
"Keep talking Pharaoh, see where it gets you," He sighed before gently pulling me into the hall. He then took me by the shoulders.
"(Y/N) understand that I am only doing this because I love you and our child so much! If something were to happen-" I kissed him.
"Nothing will happen. Atem, I'm capable of defending ourself and our child,"
"I know, but my mother died in childbirth because she overexerted herself, I don't want that to happen to you!" I could only stare after that confession.
"Atem, I had no idea about your mother. Is that why you've been so protective lately?" He blushed.
"It could be a major reason," I kissed him once again.
"Then how about this? I'll relax myself more if you reign your protectiveness in?" He smiled.
"Deal," he then brought me into his arms.
"I love you both,"
"And we love you,"

Atem was true to his word and took control of his protective nature. I in turn began spending more time in our room with Mana and Alexandra. I had begun to show signs of being with child, such as a small swelling in my stomach and of course:
The cravings.
"Mana, could I bother you to get me something?" I asked as Alexandra braided my hair.
"Of course my queen!"
"Please bring me pheasant doused in fruit juices and onions!" I heard Ori gag at the sound of this. Mana looked at me like I was insane. I looked at her confused.
"What?"
"Nothing my queen,"
Moon 5
My stomach had grown even larger this pass month due to my cravings and now I was properly showing my pregnancy. I sniffled as Atem prepared himself for the day.
"I'm hideous now!" He chuckled and kissed my cheek.
"No, you're as beautiful as the day I met you," I growled at him.
"So you thought I was fat?"
"N-no! Not at all! I meant nothing could make me love you more now knowing you are having our child!" I smiled and hugged him.
"Oh Atem you're so sweet!" He sighed.
"Muhad wasn't joking when he mention mood swings I see,"
Moon 6
I was enjoying the garden with Atem, warming my skin in Ra's sun when I felt something in my stomach. It wasn't sickness as I had mostly gotten over that, but something much more physical. Realizing what it was, my face glowed with excitement.
"Atem!" My husband rushed to my side, thinking something was wrong. He looked confused as I guided his hand to my stomach. Then he felt it, our son kicking. He smiled and wrapped me in his arms.
"That's our son!"
"It is Atem, our son wanted to say hello,"
Moon 7
I was in the stables grooming Spirit who was happy to see me. I hadn't been able to come down so Atem had been grooming him all this time and while they were both getting along better, my stallion still preferred his mistress. I heard Mira whinny, as if she were in pain. I rushed to her side to check on her, only to find her own foal kicking in her womb. I winced.
"And I thought it was painful for me. Your child has hooves,"
Mira huffed as if to tell me I was being a weakling.
Moon 8
It was late to the night. By now, my stomach was enormous and I had to have maternity clothes completely replace my previous wardrobe. I woke in our bed to find Atem with his forehead to my womb and and his hands delicately caressing the surrounding area. I took his head and kissed it.
"It's late dear, why are you still awake?"
"I was just talking to him, telling him how lucky he is to have a mother like you,"
"And a father who cares so much,"
He kissed my stomach before bringing me closer to him. I cuddled into his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair.
"Only one moon left," I hummed as I drifted off again.
Moon 9
Walking had become extremely difficult with my new weight, so waddling had become my new means of getting around. Seto seemed ready to explode with the amount of teasing he wanted to say, but many seemed to have a collar around him, preventing him from saying anything. Currently, I was playing (and winning) senet with my 2 female friends when I felt a horrible pain in my stomach. For the past few days, I had been feeling these horrible contractions, but they quickly would leave, so I believed this would do the same. However, it seemed to get worse.
Then, I felt liquid slide down my leg.
I began breathing heavily and Mana rushed to me.
"My queen, what's wrong!?"
"Get Atem and the midwife! It's time!"
Ok, longer than I thought, but works for me!
