**Anabelle' s POV*

I can't begin to explain how badly I miss Elizabeth.

It's been three months since I saw her. I haven't even gotten a call or a simple text. I know it's Summer but we usually always hang out during summer. To put it in exact words, we practically live together. I mean her house is right next door to mine and our mothers both gave birth to us on the same day so we're practically sisters.

We've hung out together ever since and summers were no exceptions. It was just this year that Elizabeth's mom decided to head out to Italy over the summer while I got stuck at home practically doing nothing but helping my mom cook once in a while. Luckily for me though, summer's almost over with! Just one week left and Elizabeth will be back and the new school year can begin.

-Monday morning-

I can already smell mom's blueberry pancake recipe...

*DING DONG*

I hear the door ringing, so I jump out of bed, run down the stairs and quickly get the door.

"Hey! I could smell blueberry pancakes from miles away," said Elizabeth.

A huge grin begins to grow on my face. "Is this real? You're not a ghost right?" I questioned.

"Uh, no," she stated sassily. "Last time I checked I was still alive," Elizabeth stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which, I guess it was.

I wrapped my arms around Elizabeth to give her a big hug. "Next time take me with you, okay Muffin?" I asked teasingly.

Elizabeth laughed. "Stop it! That was so long ago... I don't know why you tease me so much," she said.

"It's because I love you so much," I teased back while chuckling.

She came in and we ate our blueberry pancakes and dad's mango smoothie. Elizabeth was all ready to go so she came up with me to my room to help me choose my outfit.

"What do you think?" I asked her.

"Are you trying to be basic?" Elizabeth replied as if scolding me.

"I'm sorry Miss Beauty Pageant, is this not up to your taste?" I shot back with no hesitation. Finally, I chose an outfit, thanks to Elizabeth's beauty tip help, but I felt like I was standing out a little bit too much. On the other hand, Elizabeth seemed to be quite proud, so I just went with it.

Both of us, ready, piled in the car with my mom, who was driving us to school. "Have a good day at school guys," my mom shouted out of the van to Elizabeth and me once she did. Waving at her which sent her on her way, we were satisfied enough to turn back to the school and head inside.

We walked through the halls and caught up with some friends. Everyone talked about summer, where we all seemed to have interesting stories to tell. After about ten minutes of talking the bell to Hell rung and Elizabeth and I split from the group once again to walk to our first class, which we had together.

We had almost all classes together except for two, but it wasn't that bad. Coordinating our choices, we'd both gone with photography as our electives. Alas, we had gotten them for different periods. Very unfortunate, but we still had six other classes together, so oh well.

I don't really remember what the teacher was talking about so the class passed rather quickly. The next period, however, dragged on, because all I could think about was when lunch would begin. Now Elizabeth was in English and I was stuck in algebra two, so I didn't even have her to distract me and help the time pass more quickly. I was practically torture.

*ring ring*
The bell for lunch had finally wrung. Yes!

I walked out of class and spotted Elizabeth "Let's go get some brunch," she told me as I walked towards her.

"Okay but you're paying the bill," I said as I let out a chuckle, following her towards the lunch line.

We spent that hour talking and hanging out, but eventually, we had to go to class.

Mercilessly school ended that day, three hours later.

Elizabeth and I usually walk home together and tend to always take the long way in order to avoid the creepy atmosphere from the shortcut through the woods. As we walked, I suddenly got chills.

They ran down my spine and I felt as if someone was watching us. I stopped and felt as if my chest had sunk.

"Ana are you okay?" Elizabeth asked me as she had to shake me to get me to move.

"Yeah I'm fine," I lie immediately. I offer a shaky smile and try to act casual. "Sorry about that... I just went psycho," I replied sheepishly to Elizabeth. My words all followed quickly by a laugh to match my tone.

"Yeah I know, you creeped me out for a minute there," she responds as if trying to make it a casual joke. I could tell that I really had freaked her out though.

"I'm sorry about that," I apologized quickly, trying to move out of the conversation.

We finally got home after walking for an hour and a half. Elizabeth and I walked towards my room, where we sat down, got some snacks and watched some videos. Then I looked at Elizabeth, asking her a question gently.

"So how was Italy?"
Elizabeth seemed to have a blank stare. Very suddenly she looked at me and responded in a monotone voice, throwing me off. "Um, it was okay."

I was finally fed up with this. She'd been acting weird, going in and out. She'd ignored me all summer and now she's hiding something so obviously bad that it made her look like she had lost her mind?! "Okay, that's it!" I announce sternly, standing up. I place, my hands on my hips, tilted my head, looked at her seriously. To her I must have looked disappointed, telling by the shame that made her look at her hands in her lap, obviously unable to look me in the eyes. Maybe I was, a little bit - she was hiding secrets from me, of course, I was a little output - but I also felt that maybe she was telling me the truth, maybe it was just okay and nothing more.

Perhaps I'm thinking things too much if something had happened then Eli would have let me know and that's what i decided to think from now on.

*Monday night *

I felt a cold chill down my spine, once again I felt as if thought someone was outside.

Then it all came back again, the chills, the cold atmosphere that froze my heart to the core.

Gazing at the ceiling, I slowly close my eyes. eyes! I see someone looking at me, no! they're looking at Elizabeth, eyes filled with anger, obsession, and love.

But why is his stare so cold, cold enough to chill my bones.
