“I just want to know why you gave him my number, Grace.”

“Because he asked for it. I was being polite.”

“You should have asked me though. What if he was my stalker?”

“Oh please, don’t overreact. I gave it to him after you two talked in the hallway the other day. You weren’t panicking when I left, so I figured you two were friends. Calm down, he’s cute. Plus, you never would have given it to him. I did you a favor.”

Alice took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She was right, she was way too shy to give anyone her number, but she wasn’t even sure if she wanted Sehun to have her number in the first place. Alice was sitting on her bed, already in her pajamas. The moonlight was spilling through her curtains, onto the carpet of her floor. Her bedside lamp was on, casting odd shadows onto the walls.

Grace laughed into the phone, “It’s kind of funny though, I never would have imagined that I’d be right about you and the new kid. I just said it to be funny. But it’s actually coming true.”

“It is not. We’re just…” Friends? Acquaintances? “We just met. He probably won’t even text me. And if he did, he’d probably just ask for his jacket back.”

“WHAT?! WHAT JACKET!? Alice, I thought we said we wouldn’t hide anything from each other anymore.”

Alice glanced over at the jacket that was hanging off her desk chair. She grumbled and began telling Grace about how she ran into Sehun on the way home from meeting their grandmother and how they walked home together and how he put his jacket around her since she forgot her own.

Grace was silent for a long time, but suddenly she spoke into the phone. “That so-…”

            “Weird?”

            “Romantic!”

Grace was laughing again which made Alice laugh, too. “It’s not romantic, it’s really awkward. And kind of cliché.”

“Oh come on, it was sweet of him to offer you his jacket. And you still have it, which means he trusts you and maybe even likes you.”

“That’s impossible, we just met.” Alice referred back to their conversation when he told her that he was shy around everyone but her. “No, I’m not gonna even think of that being a possibility. He doesn’t like me. Don’t get it in your head that he does. Go to bed, Grace. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

They hung up and Alice laid back onto her pillows. She hated overthinking things. It gave her a headache. But she was still really confused as to what was happening.

Did she even like Sehun? She wasn’t sure. He was really nice to her, and whenever he was close she would blush pretty badly. But that could just be because boys usually made her nervous, because boys were known for messing with girls heads, and Alice wasn’t prepared for that.

Sehun has always been nice to her, since she met him. But the fact still stands, she just met him. She barely knew him, so she had no right to start getting feelings for him. A headache was forming again at the back of her head, so she turned off her light and slipped under the covers. She could reflect on all of this tomorrow. For now, she needed to sleep.

The school bell rang, startling Alice. She was in a daze, once again. History lectures always seemed to lull her to sleep. She stuffed her books into her bag and hurried out the door.
