Louis lets out a content sleepy sigh as he cuddles further into Liam's warmth. He knows that today is going to be a chaotic day, Christmas Day is an affair that has the whole house up and going with loudness and shouting and energy that even puts Liam into a good mood for a while. It's good, but it's just as equally as exhausting, especially when you're the one catering the food for everyone at Christmas lunch.
So for now, Louis is going to enjoy the silence that comes with Christmas morning before the chaos, where he can just lay in bed, cuddled up in his husbands arms and just relax. Even after so many years, so many years of them sharing the same bed cuddled up into one another, Louis will never get sick of the feeling of Liam's arms draped around his hips and his comforting breath at the back of his neck.
And Louis hums whenever he feels the familiar butter soft kisses to the back of his neck, followed by large strong hands rubbing his hips and around his stomach as Liam shuffles awake from his deep sleep. And it's familiar, it's comforting and it's everything small that Liam does towards him, things that Liam doesn't even notice himself, is what makes Louis fall in love with Liam all over again.
"Good morning,"Liam's voice is rough with sleep as he nuzzles his nose against the back of Louis' neck lovingly, large hands sprawled over Louis' stomach."You smell nice. Did you change your body lotion?"
"Liam, I've been using the same scented body lotion since I was 16."Louis rolls his eyes whenever he hears Liam huff a breath behind him, laughing just a little at his husband.
"Are you sure? Because you smell even more delicious than usual."Liam continues with a low growl in his ear, moving to leave butterfly soft kisses up and down his neck which never fails to make Louis' entire body roar red with a blush.
"Is that your attempt at flirting? Over 10 years of marriage and the best thing you can come up with is 'You smell even more delicious'?"Louis mumbles into his pillow, unamused with Liam's wondering hands as they swoop lower and lower until they're bypass the elastic of Louis' tight fitting underwear."Liam, knock it off."
"On c'mon, Lou. It's Christmas. We have an arrangement."
"Yeah, after 9am."
"It's 8:59."
"That still isn't 9am."
"You don't want me to die from blue balls, do you?"Liam pouts into the crook of his neck, keeping his hands where they are at, slowly and teasingly stroking Louis' length under the fabric of his underwear. He can't help but to smirk whenever he feels Louis squirm."And besides, we haven't had sex in an awful long time, baby."
"Because usually when we have sex, you forget to wear a condom and then we have the panic of a month figuring out if I'm pregnant or not."The last time that they nearly had sex - on the kitchen table where they eat family breakfasts for god sake - it had resulted in a panic wait that resulted in Louis luckily not being pregnant.
