"What the fuck are you wearing?"Fletcher stops dead in his tracks in the hallway, his books hugged to his chest as he's met face to face with the dreaded ugly shirt that Axel is supporting. It wasn't the same shirt that he wore that morning - because Fletcher remembers just how soft and handsome that Axel looked in his crisp shirt and jeans - and now Fletcher is starting to have regrets on agreeing meeting up with Axel between classes.
"What? What's wrong with my shirt?"A frown forms on Axels lips as he looks down at his outfit.
"Everything. You look like you're on your way to gay pride. Did you find it in uncle Harry's wardrobe."
"He bought me it for my birthday."Axel deflates as he opens his locker that they've managed to stop at, pulling out his biology books. The inside of his locker is decorated in numerous different photographs that he has taken himself, a keen photographer since his Dad bought him a camera when he was 12. Fletcher can't help but to smile, spotting a selfie of the two stuck to the inside of his locker."Dad says I have to wear it, to make Uncle Harry feel appreciated."
"But he's not here?"
"He's picking me up."
"Umm? I thought you were coming home with me? We're supposed to have a study-"Date, it's on the tip of his tongue to say it outloud but he has to stop himself."-Session."
"I know,"Axel sighs, closing his locker as he looks over at Fletcher longingly. Axel stands at a taller height than Fletcher and honestly, there's not much of a surprise with that when Fletcher takes after his Papas height and stature but it doesn't stop Fletcher from being who he is."And I was looking forward to it, but Uncle Harry is taking me to the doctors because Dad and Cal are working. I'll come over after?"
"Yeah, I guess."Fletcher mumbles, drumming his fingers on his books. He wanted Axel to come over straight after school because he knew that the rest of his family wouldn't have been there. He just wanted him all to himself for the afternoon.
"Hey, don't look so disheartened."Axel frowns as he chucks at Fletchers chin, an action that makes the eldest Payne try and jerk his head away, despite the redden of his face from the action. He isn't going to lie, he'd let Axel do anything to him, even in public."We can study at lunch if you want."
"Yeah?"Fletcher purposely makes a show with fluttering his eyelashes in a true bashful manner, his eyes a striking oceanic blue. The action alone makes Axel feel extremely flustered.
"Yeah."A small smirk starts to play on Axels lips at the prospect. They're relationship was a complicated one at that, one that neither of the two went further than trying to talk it out and one that they definitely didn't tell other people about. And what would they tell them, they weren't even sure what they were themselves.
"You have to change out of that ugly shirt though. You look like you've hit every branch of the gay tree."Fletcher smirks, poking at Axels chest. The shirt is a dark red, multiple flower prints covering it in design and an obvious Harry styles shirt. Fletcher would know, he has something the same in his closet.
"It's not that bad."
"It's that bad."
"Oh look who it is."An unfortunately familiar voice is knocking the two of them out of their private conversation. They look around, almost letting out defeated sounds as they spot one of the leading jocks that never fail to torment them both. He almost reminds Fletcher of his Dad, with his toned build and brown eyes.
"Oh fuck off, don't you have some first years to scare?"Fletcher almost growls towards the towering jock that's approached them. He's not afraid to speak up against anyone in the school, it's caused him to get into many fights over his high school years and as much as both of his parents are disapproving of it, they're proud that he's standing up for the right things.
