One Of A Kind

Ch. 3 Lets talk

"I was surrounded by this fog, it was so dark. I could only see what was right in front of me. I tried to find my away around when I heard what sounded like a big animal." I tell my friend and Gideon. "Go on." Gideon tells me when when I stop speaking for a moment.
"I tried to run when it came at me, it jump me so fast though. It was so strong-I thought it was going to kill me. It was going to but then I walk up. With theses on back." I point to the deep scratches on my back. Gideon stops putting on the disinfect cream on my back and looks at me for a moment, you can tell he thinking. Chloe looking around at Gideon's things...well more like going threw every thing she can get her hands on. we're inside his trailer right now. It's crowed with many things, his show stuff. A book shelf over on the right, so many books are on it, it look like it could explode. There are posters every where, I like the old sideshow one. Over to the left is a hall, probably where his room is.
Gideon gets done fixing up my back, he grabs the first add box and go to put it away. I take this moment to throw a old soda can at Chloe.
"Would you stop going threw his crap?!" I ask/tell her.
"What, I want to know who he really is. You can tell a lot about someone by going threw there things." She tell me. I just look at her as she keeps going threw his things...
Gideon walks back over to me, he take a chair from the table and pulls it out in front of me and takes a seat. "Amy. I umm. I was never good at being subtle, so-I will just come out and say it. Your not telling me every thing, are you?" He ask. I just look at him. I can't tell him about me. He will think I'm wired-a freak. The irony. I mean he dose live at a sideshow. "I can't tell you, I'm sorry." I tell him. Chloe is now looking at use. She the only other person that knows about me, the powers I have. I can talk to animals. Chloe thought it was cool when I told her I could understand the animals at the shelter we volunteer when kids. She would always find a way to keep me safe, to make sure no one else find out about me. She aways has my back, even if she don't always act like it.
Gideon looks at me then Chloe, he thinking. You can tell because his forehead is all scrunched up. He lens close to me, giving Chloe a sideways look.
"She knows, doesn't she?" He ask my mouth falls opens. HOW COULD HE KNOW!? Chloe walks over.
"know what?" She ask him. Her eyes staring dangers at him. Gideon look at her for a moment then turns back to me. "Your like me, your different. I could tell when I first saw you at the show today. Every body here at this place has something different about them, I can see parts of the future-well I have visions. You mite not visions like me but you have something, a ability. What it is thought I don't know." He finishes.
I look at him for a moment. Then I tell him. Chloe looks at me like I'm crazy, maybe I am. I just met him and I'm telling him everything. About the animal taking, the healing powers I have, and even how my eyes turn gold when I use my powers. He looks at me for a moment. Them he smiles. Why is he smiling at me? "I knew you where special." He tells me.
Special? Not wired, a freak, but special. That new. I've never thought of been special. I looked at my "gift" as a not so bad curse. Let alone something special.
"I don't feel it" I tell him. Looking down.
"You are Amy." Chloe tells me. "You mite not feel it, but you are." And I can tell she means every word. "Well it's hard to feel like that when your to scared to tell any one because they will make fun of you... Or throw you in the whack house." I tell her. I look over at Gideon. He look...sad. "I'm guessing you under stand that though?" I ask him. "Sadly, that why I started this place acutely, so people like me, like us could feel safe." He tells me. It's quite for a little bit till Chloe speaks up. "So...what was that thing that tried to eat me?"
"O MY GOD. CHLOE!!!"
"What?! I want to know."
"Im not sure." Gideon speaks up. "I've seen many things but never something like that." Gideon then looks at me. "I want to know Amy, did you pick up on any thing? I know you just told me about your ability but any thing you can tell could help."
"I din't get much from it, it's like it's close its self off from me. My dream it said something about balance. That all though." I tell him. "Ok then, Amy I know that thing can hurt us, and you have no reason to, but I would like you to stay around, you mite get something from it that could help us." I think about it, if that thing hurts someone and I could of stopped it...I can't let any one get hurt. "Ok, I'll help." I tell him.
"You kidding." Chloe says. "That thing about eat me and somehow hurt you when your asleep and you want to try to fight it?" She says. "She won't be fighting it, I just need her around to see if she can under stand why it's after us." Gideon tells her.
"I can't let someone else get hurt Chloe, I'm helping him."
"Fine but if you get to play hero I'm saying with you." I look over at Gideon. "We could use help around here." He tells me. He then looks over at Chloe. "Your Amy friend and all but I do expect you to keep all of this to your self."
"I won't tell any one, Amy my Bff and if she thinks it's a good idea to help them so am I."
"What now?" I ask
"Now it's late, you should go home, get some rest. Come back here tomorrow and you two can start to help if that ok." Gideon tells us.
Me and Chloe both say ok and grab are things. Gideon walks us over to the jeep. I walk a few feet in front of them. Chloe whispering something to Gideon.
"Gideon I know you mite not trust me as much as Amy, but I won't tell any one about you or your friends, I've seen what Amy had to go threw with her parents and the others kids at school. She felt like she din't belong any where, no mater how hard she tried to be normal, like the other kids. I don't want to see any one else go threw that."
Gideon looks at Chloe for a moment. Then finely speaks. "I'm glad your her friend, not a lot off "normal" people are willing to be around us, let alone a real friend. Just understand that I've or the others hear have not been so lucky with having friends like you." Chloe shakes her ok and keep walking beside Gideon. We finely get to the jeep. Me and Chloe jump in and she starts up the jeep. I look at the clock in the jeep and see it's almost past 11.
We talk to Gideon about where to met up and then say good bye. Chloe pull out the jeep and starts to drive away from the sideshow. I look back to see Gideon walking back to his trailer. The ride back home was uneventful. I walk into my house, mom probably asleep and dad in the computer room working on something. Butters comes walking over. She says hello and ask me how my day was. I tell her it was good and that I'm meting up with friends tomorrow. I don't tell her about the black shadow thing. I don't want to worry her. I pick up the chubby cat and head up to my room. I put her in the bed, get some gray sweatpants on, leaving on the blue tank top and get into bed. Butters lays down beside me.
I fall into a deep sleep, the sound of my cat purring peacefully.
