(one week after Blake is born)
"I love you." I hear my mate whisper. I stand near the open door of our bedroom, watching her talk to our newborn son as she holds him in her arms. He makes a sound and Charlotte giggles, leaning down to place a kiss on his forehead.
Walking over to the bed and taking a seat directly behind my mate, moving my legs so that they're on either side of her, and wrap my arms around her torso, supporting her arms as she holds our child. "I'm happy." she says with a small smile on her face.
"You deserve to be."
A couple minutes later Blake drifts off to sleep, his hands holding one of Charlotte's to his chest. "I got him." I say, gently taking him from Charlotte's arms and laying him down in the crib located about two feet away from our bed.
A lot of people have a separate nursery room, but Charlotte and I both feel better having Blake in the room with us. We have a nursery in the room across from us, but we really just use it as a place to store all of Blake's stuff so our bedroom isn't too crowded. The crib we have is easy to move around though, so we have the choice to move Blake around without too much hassle.
"Are you feeling better, sweetheart?" I ask, getting back on the bed next to my mate.
She nods, "It doesn't hurt as much when I move anymore."
Charlotte and Blake weren't released from the hospital until three days ago. Usually werewolves are able to go home the day after giving birth, but we were a different case. Dr. Kale wanted to make sure that Charlotte was stable before being discharged and she wanted to do the same for Blake, which I am thankful for. "What do you think you're doing?" Charlotte asks when I lay back on the pillows and get under the covers with her.
"Laying down?"
"And that's it?" she questions, starting to sound offended.
"I was going to get ready to go to sleep." I mutter, trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
"Fine, be like that." she grumbles, grabbing one of the pillows behind her head and putting it between us to act like a wall. Slowly she lays down, but keeps her back towards me, confusing me even more.
'What did we do?' my wolf asks, just as confused as I am. 'Hey, where's she going?'
I look at my mate and see that she's getting off the bed and leaving the room. Not asking questions just yet, I follow her downstairs, making sure to stay close enough to her incase she falls, and end up standing with her in the kitchen. 'Orange juice. Orange juice. Orange juice.' I hear when I try listening in on her thoughts.
Well, that explains why we're in the kitchen.
Seeing her hand shaking while she attempts to pour herself a glass of orange juice, I take the carton and finish the job for her. She looks at the full glass of orange juice and frowns, but doesn't say anything about it as we walk back up the stairs. "Volevo solo mezzo bicchiere." she grumbles, shaking her head and staring at the cup. (I just wanted half a glass)
"Ma lo bevo perché sarà uno spreco di succo d'arancia se non lo faccio." she adds, taking a sip. (But I will drink it because it will be a waste of orange juice if I don't.)
