"Andrà bene," I whisper, holding Blake close to me as he cries in my arms. Closing the blinds and quickly packing his bag, I try to soothe my baby as I mind-link Theo. 'Hey, can you walk with me to the packhouse?' (It's going to be okay)
It doesn't take him long to respond with, 'I'll be there in five.'
Xander had to take care of things in the cells, so it was just Blake and I alone in the house. He's been trying to work more in the house since he doesn't like leaving us home alone, but he's been having to tend to more things around the territory. Brody has offered to stay in the house when Xander's away, but he can't always do that since he's the Beta of the pack.
I do just the same amount of packwork as them, but all the things we do are different. Even Cade is busy most of the time now. He's now in charge of most of the training centers around the pack and Theo is still an Elite. I'm not really in the packhouse as much anymore since caring for Blake with so many people around and doing Luna work at the same time is kind of difficult.
"So che lo senti anche tu, ma andiamo al confine e va bene." I speak to my son, gently rocking him in my arms. ( know you feel it too, but we're gonna go to the packhouse and it should all be okay)
The eerie feeling of being watched in the house has been prominent to the both of us lately, but it only happens whenever the two of us are alone. Recently the feeling has gotten more intense and he's been crying because of it. "Theo ci prenderà presto, non ti preoccupare." I continue talking to Blake, noticing that he calms down a bit when I look at him and talk. (Theo will come pick us up soon, don't worry.)
I hear a knock at the front door and freeze; Theo has a key to the house and never knocks, if anything he uses the doorbell. I sniff the air, trying to pick up on a scent, but can't find any traces of anyone outside. 'Are you in front of the house?' I ask Theo as I hear knocks on the door again.
'No, I'm just turning into the neighborhood, why?'
'Someone's knocking on the front door, but I don't smell anyone down there.'
Instead of going to the front door and opening it, I instead walk back to the window and try to see if someone is in front of the house. 'I think I just saw two people run to the side of the house.' I inform Theo as his car comes into view. I see shadows run across the kitchen windows, but I still can't pick up on any scent besides Theo.
'Take Blake with you to the middle of the house, I'm gonna go check the perimeter.' he tells me, getting out of his car and making eye contact with me through the window.
'Be careful, Theo.' Blake's crying gets louder as I take the both of us upstairs in the hallway. I try hugging him against me and talking to him, but nothing seems to work as that feeling of being watched comes back. 'Is everything alright?' I get a mind-link from Xander. He must have felt my discomfort through the mate bond.
'I don't know.' I reply, flinching and pulling Blake tighter against me when I hear something bangs on one of the bedroom windows. 'People were knocking on the front door, but they didn't have a scent that I could pick up on. And then Theo pulled up the driveway, they ran to the side of the house.'
