My eyes widened as I stepped back to see them all. Barry, Isabel, Isaac and Mona were all at the door. I immediately put on a façade and smiled, "Hey thanks for coming! Come on in guys." Barry and Isabel hugged me as they walked inside. Isaac looked sorta disoriented as he nodded his head at me. Mona just walked inside, bitch.
As soon as I was about to close it, my nana's soft voice was heard. "Selena!" She shouted as they got out a taxi. My mom looked irritated as my dad was talking to her when they got out the car. "Nana!" I smile as I run towards her. I embraced her, squeezing her small petite body. Her soft short silver hair tickled my neck. "You've gotten soo big, Lele."
My eyes widened from that nickname, "Nana I go by Lena now." She smiled and cupped my face softly and kissed my cheek. "Hey sweetie." Both my parents said in unison. I hugged them both and escorted them inside. "Here, let me get your bags nana." My nana passed me her luggage with a smile. We went back inside the dining room and my eyes narrowed. That Mona girl was in my seat next to Ian. I clenched my jaw and walked over to here, "Excuse me this is my seat. There's a seat open next to Isaac down there." She looked at Ian like he was supposed to defend her. Ian looked away as she scoffed and got up to move. I sat down in the seat and whispered to Ian, "Why did you invite her inside our home?"
"She an old friend, thought it'd be nice for you two to get along. But I see that's not going to happen."He murmured back. He began to stare at Isaac, "Whose he?"
"My coworkers brother. Remember I said he was rude? I don't know why they're here. I only invited Barry." I confessed. He nodded understandingly then stood up, "So once again thank you everyone for coming to have brunch with us on this Christmas Eve day. Let's dig in."
He sat down and began to pour some apple juice in his cup. I reached for a frittata and my hands slid past his. Our eyes met for a second, but in that second I could've sworn I saw sadness. Isaac pulled away and reached for something else. My eyes wandered to Ian but he was stuffing his face, obliviously. I bit my lip thinking of what Isaac must be thinking.
"Lena!" Someone nudged me.
"Yes?" I looked to see Bella.
"Can I talk to you in the kitchen?" She asked kind of flushed. I nodded as I got up to step into the kitchen with her. "What's up?" I wondered leaning against the counters. "Whose that latin hottie at your dinner table?"
My eyes rolled, "You made me get up to talk about Isaac?"
She shrugged taking a gulp of the apple juice, "Well yeah. You two seem like good friends."
Bella you're always wrong, I thought in my head. I suddenly cringed at the thought of him and Bella. "Um well he's single but not very inviting at first." I informed taking a look back at the table. He was whispering something to Isabel which made her scowl at him. "Can you introduce us?" She asked, boring her electric blue eyes into mine. As much as I wanted to say no, I was curious about how this would turn out. Her eyes moved from mine to behind me which made me turn around. Isaac was getting up to walk towards us. He kept eye contact with me until he was inches away.
"Where's your bathroom?" His deep husky voice echoed in my ear. I looked between him and Bella with a wicked smile. "Have you met my sister, Bella?" I completely disregarded his question. He narrowed his eyes at me before looking at Bella quickly. "Hello. Now where's the bathroom?"
"Down the hallway and make a left." I pursed my lips together and stared him dead in his electrifying eyes. We stared at each other for another quick second which made my heart beat intensely fast before he walked away. "What the hell was that Lena?" Bella asked gaining my attention.
