He was gone before I even woke up. Him and Isabel. It was like they were never even here. Monday morning in the office was quiet. Barry, Isabel nor Isaac came in yet. I was sitting typing a quick story at my cubicle.
"I can't fucking believe we're late," a voice cursed from a far caught my attention. I turned around slightly to see Isaac and Barry scrambling towards their cubes. Isaac looked extremely exhausted like he had gotten no sleep at all. As Barry walked past he gave me a quick head nod to follow him. I followed him to the break room and slid the door close.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked sitting down. He began to roll his eyes, "Lena they showed up to my one room apartment at 2 in the morning causing a got damn ruckus."
A giggle escaped my lips accidentally, "A got damn ruckus?"
He repeated with a smile, "A got damn ruckus. It was already bad enough I have one room but they took my bed so I had to sleep on the couch. Now my back is aching."
My legs crossed quite amused, "Maybe Isabel will make it up to you." He sat down next to me hysterically, "I'm too damn tired to even think about that. Why did they leave your house?" I sat back in the chair trying to be subtle.
"They felt like they were being burdens," I lied looking away from Barry. He snapped his hands at me gaining my attention,"Lena you're a horrible liar."
I bit my lip contemplating to really tell him the truth or not. Because honestly it's been killing me not having someone to tell things to. Lillian and Bella are hypnotized by Isaac. "Okay so you can't repeat this to anyone..." I start. He wiggles his eyebrow, "Mhm I won't."
I took a deep breath, "Isaac kissed me last night."
His jaw dropped making me put my head in my hands. "Well did you like it?" he whispered making me look up. "A little. But it won't happen again. I-I don't want to lose Ian." I admitted. He touched my hand softly, "Well I think you should just stay clear from each other until these little "feelings" are gone."
I threw my hands up desperately,"We sit right next to each other... I go to lunch with Isabel and him-"
"These are excuses... If you want to save your soon to be marriage you have to stay away from Mr.Grouchypants." He ordered giving me a slightly stern look. I nodded getting up from the table. He got up then looked at his reflection from the glass, "Lena why didn't you tell me I had toothpaste on my chin?" I squinted with a laugh, "I wasn't paying attention to your chin. Here." I licked my thumb and wiped it off for him.
He swatted me away jokingly. As we turned around Isaac was at the door staring between us. Barry noticed the awkwardness so he grabbed my hand and pulled me away past him.
The whole time I was at my cube just minding my business. But Isaac kept trying to get my attention by walking past my cube too many times or kicking his foot on my wall. Men are childish for attention. When lunch time came I was deciding whether to go with Isabel or Barry. I walked up to Isabel's desk with a smile but she scowled at me.
"You could've pushed him away." she muttered flipping her hair that was in a ponytail. I couldn't gather the words so she continued, "You let him kiss you when you have a good fiancé! You're uh como se dice... a cheater." She was getting louder making everyone look our way.
"Isabel can we talk privately. I feel shitty too." I sighed making her roll her eyes. "Whatever."
She gets from around the desk to follow me to the break room. I gesture for her to sit down but she doesn't. I sighed, "Isabel, I know you're concerned about my life but it was something that will never happen again. It was a mistake and I regret it so much." She let her face relax, "I'm sorry. I know it's none of my business anyways but Ian is a great guy. He doesn't deserve that. And my brother should have known better too. Honestly I was just really upset we had to leave around 3 something to go to Barry's apartment. Which was small by the way." I laughed making her laugh too.
"Yeah that was just a one time thing." I say biting my lip. She nodded, "I hope you know my brother tells me everything so it better be a one time thing." I reassured her, "No no not again. Wouldn't want to do that to Ian."
She gave me a hug, "I forgive you for making a mistake."
So much drama in a weekend. "Let's go get some lunch. I'm starving." She said pulling away making me hesitantly smile. "What? You're not hungry?"
"No no. I am but won't your brother be there?" I asked looking out the glass. She shook her head, "No the girl from your Christmas brunch is taking him to lunch. Uh her name was Lisa? No , maybe Loren?" She began putting her hand on her chin.
"Lillian-" I suggested.
"Lillian!" she laughed.
Lillian is taking Isaac out for lunch? Aren't they going to dinner tonight too? I guess he got over me pretty quickly. I mean I'm not complaining or anything. Good for him... I guess.
We walked out of the break room and as if on cue Lillian struts in the office and- What the hell? She was wearing my black dress! Her hair casually flipped making me shake my head. She was standing by reception waiting to be helped. I began to walk to her when Isaac got in her face first. They kissed on the lips making me vomit a bit in my mouth.
As they pull away she sees me and smiles. "Lena! Hey." My mouth twitches into a smile, "Hey Lill, what're you doing here?"
She grabs Isaac's hand and walks towards me, "Oh I'm taking this hunk out for lunch." My eyes shift to Isaac who wouldn't look at me. "Oh well have fun and when are you going back home again? Tomorrow?" My eyebrow raised softly. She lightly tapped my nose, "Lena I've decided to move up here with you-"
"No!" I interrupt making her jump. "I mean why would you leave Bella all the way back in Tally?"
She laughed, "C'mon of course Bella will be staying with me here."
What the hell was going on? When did they even decide this? "Lena you don't look very happy... This is great. We get to see each other everyday-" She began. I blocked her out I didn't want to listen. This is horrible. I know Lillian is my bestfriend but she's turned into someone I wasn't used to. "Why are you wearing my dress?" I asked noticing she was done talking. She blushed, "Oh I ran out of clothes. Hope you don't mind. And I might need one tonight for my date." She bumped my hip.
I nodded, "Sure. Well I'm going to lunch with Isabel so-"
"Come to lunch with us!" She suggested making me and Isaac say No in unison. That's when he finally looked me in the eyes. "Sheesh okay. Well talk to you later Lena." she laughed not noticing us staring. She pulled him to follow her and they left.
"She seems nice," Isabel crept up behind me. I rolled my eyes slightly so she wouldn't see. "Can we go?" I asked having a headache from this whole mess.
"Mexican food?" she wondered looking at me.
"Mexican food." I replied with a somewhat genuine smile.
