I wake up to a white hospital room in a white hospital gown in a white hospital bed with white hospital chairs with bright light streaming in. I see my mom in a chair in the corner resting so I get up and walk out the door. I walk down the hall to hear laughing and feet hitting the ground.
I'm met with the eyes of the boy who stopped my pain. Raven boy! I run to where I saw them but they're gone. I silently head back to the room. As my mom begins to stir awake I climb back into the bed.
"Morning mom!" I greet her happily.
"Morning buttercup, the doctor should be coming in soon to tell us what's wrong, okay?"
The doctor? Oh no. My lungs feel like their contracting. It's getting harder to breath. My palms are getting sweaty. I'm nervous. What is he gonna say? Am I sick? Well, that one is pretty obvious, but this is serious! I could have a serious life threatening disease. I don't know, but I'm terrified.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
"Hello Isabella, Mom" A man, the doctor I presume enters, with messy brown hair, fair skin, and long lanky legs enters turning to me then my mother. "I am Dr. Smith but everyone just calls me Doctor" he still stands in the doorway smiling.
"So what's wrong with me?" I ask with my arms folded across my chest defensively. He smile drops and his face turns into grim expression.
"Your symptoms are unusual, so unusual that we have run every test we could and we unfortutely could not find the cause of your illness so we want to keep you here for awhile to not only run more test but to also be here in case of any more accidents like that. You almost died. If you can not get here fast enough the next time, you could, well, die. So we want to keep you here for precautionary measures, we just want you safe."
What does he mean stay here? What about school? I can't just stay here in a hospital room doing nothing all day!? I'll go insane!
"What do you mean keep me here? What about school? I can't just stay here! And for how long a few weeks? months? years?!" I practically yell at the Dr. Smith. The poor doctor winces and as bad as I feel this is just all too much.
"You would stay for about two months longer if needed though, we have a school here and you would be moved to the pediatrics division with all the other children, you will have your own room and visitors are allowed at any time. Ms.Isabella I do not wish to make your life unbearable this is all for you and making sure you stay healthy." I take deep breaths, this is my life. Its not permanent it will all be fine, maybe I'll even run into a few friends.
"When she will she be moved over to the pediatrics division?" asked my mother
"Tonight, her room is being prepared now and your are allowed to leave to retrieve any items you think she might need and we will take Isabella to take a tour of PD." He explains to her. She agrees and comes over to me kissing me on my forehead and saying everything will be okay.
"Ready to go?" he says with infectious goofy smile back again.
"Sure, why not"
"Well let us get a move on then" he leans down lending me his arm I loop mine through and we begin walking to PD.
