"And that's how you do simultaneous equations !"

Tom exclaimed as he gladly shoved his hand into the almost empty nacho bowl that the two of you had been munching on for the past two hours. Finally finishing the last practice question you sighed in relief. Dropping your pen you dived it into the nacho bowl only to find it empty. 

"Wha- there was at least three more pieces left !"

"Yeah and they're now in my stomach"

You raised your hand summoning a flat thin crystal to float the bowl back down stairs to the kitchen table. Tom seemed interested and sat up from his previous position.

"Can your crystals melt ?"

"Under extremely hot temperatures but a lot of crystals are hard to melt"

"Try it"

You shrugged seeing no harm in a little break from all the studying and besides what's a small little science experiment going to do ? 

Your palm glowed a bright purple then in a few second a purple crystal was floating above your palm. Tom noticed the crystal and snickered, curious you asked him,

"What's so funny ?"

Which caused Tom to shook his head showing you misunderstood. Then he raised his hand above the crystal.

"I just didn't expect the crystal to be purple"

Tom's palm burst out in flame, quickly he directed the flame's direction towards the crystal. Close enough to heat it up but far enough as to not harm your palm. You watched the colour of the flame changed the tip of the crystal to a warm orange making the crystal look like it's reflecting a sunset onto it's surface. Both Tom and you were speechless by the sight, soon Tom extinguish his fire and the crystal simply disappeared. Simple crystals that you don't want anymore just simply disappear while complex and magical crystals stays forever. However there are draw backs, complex crystals take up more energy then simple crystals.

"Hey (Y/n) ?"

"Hmm ?"

You hummed towards him as you picked up the sprawled out books on your bed.

"How about a bet ?"

Curious you place down the books and stationary on the desk. You picked up the glass cup full of water on the desk and took a sip,

"If you score well in the pop quiz you'll go out on a date with me"

Hearing the word date almost cost you to choke on the water you were sipping on. You wiped your mouth and place the cup down with a shocked face. You were hesitant to agree with the bet, while you admit the past tow hours you spent with Tom was pleasant the cries of Star's comments about him during their break up made you worry.

You still remembered how Star would call over you and Pony head to vent about the stress she was having about Tom's anger issues. But you also remembered how Tom explained to you that he had a coach to sooth his anger and a pet bunny which you absolutely adore.

Not knowing what to do you rubbed the back of your neck nervously, there was no denying you and Tom have great chemistry. Working together like perfect gears you were still worried, Tom seemed to notice your expression and quickly raise his hands.

"Woah clam down, I'm not forcing you or anything. If you really feel uncomfortable with it we can just drop it"

"Why ?"

Tom wasn't expecting that answer and stuttered a little before regaining his composure.

"Well...it feels nice to be talking to someone knowing that they don't fear you because of my powers and status. Also it may seem weird but don't you feel like something is always tugging at you ? When I was fighting along side you that day the tugging stopped..."

You had to agree with him, ever since the tugging happened you could not shove Tom away from your thoughts whatsoever. 

"Okay, what if I don't do well on the quiz ?"

Tom chuckled and shook his head.

"You won't"
