TWENTY-TWO: "Can you distinguish her?" ✍️
"ZACK! Ahhh! Don't! Hahahaha! It's tickling me, Zack, don't! Hahahaha!"
I woke up from a nap one evening because of the screams and laughters I have heard. I brushed my eyes and looked at the assignment I was doing awhile ago. I wasn't aware that while writing my assignment here on the terrace I was totally taken by sleepiness.
Tired and sleepy, I watched the carefree Zack and Anya who seem to be enjoying playing like children and running everywhere in the house. Anya was laughing her heart out while Zack was tickling her all over her waist and belly. It's been a month now since Zack introduced her to our parents.
I tried to focus on continuing my assignment but I would always end up being distracted by their noises that I just couldn't think of what to write next especially it's an essay piece.
I just shook my head and then started to fix my things. Guess, it's better to go back to my room and continue this so that I can focus more without too much distractions.
"Hey, Ryn! You're there! Hi!" Anya cheerfully greeted me on a very friendly approach just as the moment she had seen me entering the living area.
I just returned her the friendly smiled and simply nodded.
"Why are your eyes reddish? Have you been sleeping?"
I nodded again. "Yeah. I felt asleep while doing my assignment."
"Is that so?" her eyes turned apologetic when she realized something. "Guessed, Zack and I have disturbed you because we were both too noisy playing around like a child? Pardon us, Irryn. Don't worry, I and your brother will be minimizing our noises from now on."
I disregarded all the words she said because the only thing that made me silently smirk is the last sentences coming from her lip. He called Zack my brother? I don't even know how Zack would react to that but I guess, it would disgust him for the nth time being called as my sibling.
Anyway, I still managed to be casual and friendly somehow. "Don't worry, I don't mind it at all. Besides, it's even a good thing that I have been awake from a nap 'cause I still have to finish my assignment," I showed her the notes and pen on my hand.
"No need to check at her, Anya!" Zack finally have spoken.
Okay. The usual rude tone whenever I'm around. Guessed, I am starting to get immuned and used to it that it wouldn't be a big deal to me so soon.
But I was wrong in thinking of not getting hurt and not giving a damn anymore when I saw Zack passionately held Anya's waist in front of me to draw her even close to him. The familiar stroke of pain stabbed my vulnerable heart again.
Before I could get out of place of their sweetness, I just decided to finally walk out of their way to go to my own room. "I have to go, excuse me."
I was about to step on the last step of the staircase when I took a glance on the two of them again. They really seem to be a cute and suitable couple. I could also see it from Anya how much she's interested at Zack and how the feelings are mutual between the two of them. I wouldn't be surprised one day if finally she would give her sweetest yes to Zack.
The thought kills me for the nth time.
"Oh my gosh!" I was so shocked and I almost held my heart when without a word, Rhian stood behind me. She just gotten here suddenly out of nowhere! "Rhian, you can really be a reason of my heart attack one of these days!"
My little sister just grinned at me. "Do I really look like a ghost now that I make you shock every time I appear behind you?"
"Not like that, Rhian, but you really have made me feel like having a heart attack by your sudden appearance from nowhere."
She didn't mind what I said anymore 'cause she doesn't always take things seriously, instead of, her eyes just darted to her brother and to Anya. That made me look again at the suitable future couple.
"They're so suitable for each other, Rhian, what do you think? You agree with me, right?" I asked without any emotion and then hid my bitter smile.
"I don't really think she's already the one. I think she's still not yet the one my brother would get so serious of," Rhian frankly spoke up what was on her mind and apparently, her opinion.
I seriously looked at my sister. "You really think so, Rhian? But why? I could see Zack takes good care of her."
Rhian remained watching the two being clingy with each other.
I sighed. "Don't you approve Anya to be your brother's girlfriend?"
"It doesn't matter if she gets my approval or not. My opinion doesn't really matter if I like her or not. Zack can make decisions for himself and who he wants to brush his ass off. My only point is I don't really think he treats her seriously nor getting seriously attached with her."
"But she's the first ever girl Zack has introduced to our parents..."
Rhian laughed as if what I said was a big joke. "Sis Irryn, it doesn't always mean that when a man introduces a girl to his family is he's already serious with her."
I was totally speechless by Rhian's perspective. Indeed, she has a point. I just couldn't believe that she's still at grade 7 but she could already think almost like a college girl!
"Zack's pursuing her for almost a few months now..." I continued, eitherway.
Rhian turned to me while still laughing a bit. "Another point of correction, you can never really determine if a guy gets serious with a girl by just measuring the months or years of his pursuit to her. That's just crazily odd."
The way I see it in Rhian's reaction. I knew it. I knew she doesn't really like Anya for her brother.
"Well, honestly, sis Irryn, I couldn't really figure out if I like Anya or not because as I've said, my opinion doesn't really matter. It's just that I don't feel like she's already the one. You know? I cannot really distinguish her from all of those girls that my brother played around with before. Look at her, can you distinguish her from all of those girls?"
I looked at Anya. The latter's still laughing so hard while cuddling around with Zack. If I look at this way, I can say that yes, Rhian's right, she's not yet the type that Zack would be getting serious with... but as I can see it in his eyes the way he looks at her, he looks like he really likes her more than those temporary girls he used to play around with and the sincerity in his eyes the way he looks and stares at her...
"Let's have a bet then, sis Irryn. She's not yet the right girl who can make Zack fall on his own knees," Rhian even challenged.
I looked at her. She just shrugged her shoulders off and then went to her bedroom. What did she mean? Anya still isn't yet the one?
