I'll choose not to see you
So you can see millions of others
I grit my teeth behind my lips as I smile and pretend
That those words are the truths that come from my heart
Those words which I put in this poem
Are words that are beautifully strangely hollow
Lies that I've repeated over and over again
Until I can feel those words
Those lies
Rotting in my mouth
The words that soothes my chest
Whenever I remember I can't see you
And yes there will be no 'yets'
I will choose not to see you
I will choose to make myself blind
And once again walk this road with knives purposely left behind
I will choose to be lost once again
And now that I am blind
Still, my love, do not forget
I hope to do this for you
For your happiness and your innocence
For your smiles and your laughs
For your safety and your peace
That I won't be able to give to you
This is for you.
And I promise to love only you.
You have my word, love.
You have all my words.
