Chapter 4

Seira's POV

"Hey! Wake up!" Rin yelled in my ear while I felt him shake me from side to side. My eyes reluctantly opened to see him leaning over me, I blinked my eyes a few times to clear my vision until I could see that I was in a dorm room. But it wasn't mine. I looked to Rin for an explanation, but he too began to awkwardly glance around as well while scratching behind his head.

While he was processing this I could see that it was still dark outside his window, I tried to sit up when he finally spoke "Hey, be careful! I had to bring you back here to get you bandaged up. Yukio said you might have a concussion and that you need to take it easy," he chuckled nervously "he also said not to let you fall asleep but I kinda forgot, but you're awake now." I laid back down and raised a hand to touch the gauze I discovered around my forehead.

"So Yukio's here too?" Rin nodded "Yeah, he left just a few minutes ago, he had a job he had to take care of." "What kind of job?" I asked, Rin remained silent and became flustered "Uh, well, do you know about, like, the cram school?" "Yukio goes to the cram school?!" I shouted. "Yeah and- wait! How do you know about it?!" he questioned back.

I shrunk back at his question, How the hell am I going to explain everything?Let alone get him to believe me? He must have seen the worry on my face that I tried my best to hide, because he gave me a comforting smile."Hey you know you can trust me, right?" I tried to smile back but it was a sad attempt. I might as well tell him, he deserves the truth, but the last thing I want is him to...

"Alright, I guess I'll start from the beginning." I muttered. "The day before I left a man came to the orphanage, asking to see me specifically. I was told that he was a very wealthy man wanting to adopt a girl with red hair, and I was a perfect match. I felt like I was in a scene out of the movie Annie, it was... a "dream come true" I guess you could say. I would have a home, a family. But I didn't considered the fact that I would have to leave, I somehow convinced him to let me stay until the next day. Do you remember when I came over that day? I gave you back the little ring you had gotten me for my birthday, telling you I didn't want to be friends, and" I giggled at the memory "you exploded and ran home. I thought that if I didn't have anyone to miss back there, it would be easier for me to leave. I guess I was wrong. Cause the next day as I was driving away in his car, I looked back to see you... chasing after us. And I realized I regretted not saying goodbye."

I began to quietly laugh at the memories but Rin stayed quiet, I continued "The man that adopted me revealed his true name to me, although he said he was always called by the name Johann Faust, but that the name he wanted to me to call him by was Mephisto Pheles."

"W-what?!" Rin exclaimed. I nodded and asked "So I'm guessing he's how you got into the school here too?" "Y-yeah, but only because of..." he trailed off and I decided to finish his thought for him "Your... power." his head jerked away at my words but I reassured him with a grin. "Yeah, I guess we have that in common. You see that's the only reason why he adopted me."

"On my tenth birthday he told me of my... purpose, my special "ability"" This is it... I'm going to tell him, my fists clenched the sheet that covered the lower half of my body, seeing me tense up Rins expression softened as he listen intently.

"I-I'm not... I'm not exactly human Rin..." I whispered

"You did see me in that alleyway, those bastards had caught me off guard a few months ago and held me captive because... they knew what I was, what I am." I looked up into his blue eyes that filled me with a small feeling of comfort, but I knew that it could leave in only a moment. "My biological, teenage mother who died during childbirth, was a normal human. My father... my father... wasn't."
