Andy and Marilyn ran after her and almost ran her over as her veritable storm of anger had quickly boiled down to a slow arm-rubbing nervous pace on the other side of the door.
"Lucy I've been meaning to ask you..." Andy started.
"Go ahead." She said with a huff.
"Why is your dream so... medieval?" Andy asked.
"Oh I know!" Marilyn said excitedly but she was quickly shot down by Lucy's glare.
"I like to read... you know... knight and princess romance books." She said reluctantly.
"Oh." Andy said genuinely surprised.
"It's not like I'm some wet sop though."
"It's okay, Lucy. I like them too!" Marilyn confided.
"Seeing as you were the one who got me hooked Dream Marilyn, this isn't exactly news..." Lucy said.
"Well that and yaoi slash fiction." Marilyn said thoughtfully.
"Nope shut up!" Lucy tried to yell over her before she clasped her hand over Marilyn's mouth.
"If it makes you feel better I have no idea what that means." Andy reassured her.
A third thundering clash shook the castle around them and they hastened their pace considerably.
"So what am I heading into?" Lucy asked.
"I honestly don't know. It's different for everybody." Andy admitted.
"So probably a fight, right?"
"It's likely to be a fight."
"Do you want powers? Can I give you like crazy dream powers or something?"
"You could if I were human but I have a few tricks up my sleeve."
"Sweet you're a wizard now." Lucy said as she whipped a wand out from the back of her pants and waved it over him.
The wand looked more like a baton than a traditional wand and it was a deep purple with a yellow spiral that ran its length. Glitter and sparkles spewed from the projected end and fell over Andy in a shower of glittering light. Andy looked down and saw his clothes had disappeared and they were replaced by a long yellowy beige robe with blue stars on it and he felt the weight of a hat on his head. He took it off to inspect it and found it was a comically large wizard hat of the same colour and pattern as his robe. He put it back onto his head and looked up to see Lucy grab what looked like a hat stand with a large candle on top and throw it towards him.
"And that's your staff." Lucy said.
Andy clumsily grabbed the candle stand and felt the rusty metal pole twist and widen and shift into a long staff of gnarled wood though the large half melted candle remained fixed to the end.
"Rad." Marilyn commented.
"Here." Lucy said as she started up a dark staircase that was illuminated by the occasional flash of lightning from above.
They ran up the staircase and Marilyn and Lucy popped out the top onto the roof. They looked back down the staircase to see Andy had tripped on his robe and was slowly climbing to his feet and carefully walking the rest of the way. Andy popped out the top and stood next to them and notably regarded the fact that despite the fact they were out on a roof amidst a thunderstorm, none of them had been hit by a drop of rain. They looked around into the darkness and the swirling rain that raged around them.
Lightning struck and illuminated the shapes of two frightening monstrous figures across the roof though they seemed preoccupied with stomping on different sections of the roof.
