It was the next morning in the courtyard of the compound.

Klaus and I were spoiling Hope and Rae to a dining hall sized table full of pastries and treats, much to their enjoyment, sitting down at the table, with Rae sitting in my lap.

"Now, you can't call yourself a connoisseur if you have not sampled each and every one of these," I told her. "Hmm? Here."

I held up a donut for Rae to take a bite of.

Rae smiled excitedly and happily. "Mm, it's so good."

Hope smiled, taking a bite.

"Did I ever tell you the story of my first beignet?" Klaus asked. Hope and Rae shook their heads. "No? You are in for a treat." I took Rae off of my lap to stand, spinning her softly around to place her down. Rae giggled. Klaus started to pace as he told the story. "Long ago, three French nuns came to New Orleans looking for a fresh start. And they came here." He looked at Hope, smiling. "They marched right into our courtyard, and they presented your Uncle Elijah and me with these rather lumpy-looking, sugar-coated pastries. Well, needless to say, we were entranced. We set them up quite well."

"Why did they come to you?" Hope asked.

Klaus walked closer to kneel in front of Hope. "Because there was a time when we were regarded as royalty. You might even go so far as to say I was king." He looked at me, smirking in amusement. "And there was a time that Kaylin was titled 'Queen of Chicago', many decades ago, when we first met. We ruled the city."

"Yeah, that's a story for another time," I told them. Klaus smiled, chuckling. I turned to Rae and Hope, smiling. "But that would make you both princesses."

Hope and Rae smiled, giggling, which made Klaus and me smile and chuckle.

Hayley walked closer, clearing her throat. "Good morning." She kissed Hope on the head. "I guess apple turnover is fruit."

"Well, we saw no harm in indulging our daughters' sweet tooth," I told her. "All things in moderation, of course."

Hayley nodded sarcastically. "Okay." She leaned closer to Hope to whisper to her teasingly. "Don't eat too many. You'll get a stomachache." She looked at Klaus and me more seriously. "Can we talk?" Hayley, Klaus and I walked away from Hope and Rae to talk privately. "Have you seen Elijah?"

"I thought he was with you," Klaus told her.

Hayley shook her head. "I haven't seen him since he left for Marcel's last night."

We were a little concerned but hoping for the best.

      *********

Klaus had gone to talk to Marcel about the missing Elijah and defeating the Hollow.

In the ballroom, Freya was doing a locator spell to find Elijah nearby the jawbone, which was still in the boundary spelled salt circle on the table.

Hayley and I were watching her.

I hung up my phone, turning to face them. "He's not at Marcel's."

"I'll find him," Freya told us, starting the spell. "Jalgida minu blao mitt. Jalgida minu blao mitt." The spell didn't seem to work. "He's cloaked by magic. I can feel it."

We heard a soft scraping, turning to see that the jawbone was circling around on the table within the boundary spelled salt circle, walking closer in confusion.

Vincent walked in, looking at the bone. "That's her. That's the Hollow. She has Elijah, and now she wants that bone."

"In exchange for Elijah?" Hayley asked.
