Klaus, Elijah, Hayley and I wasted no time in getting Hope and Rae back to New Orleans.

Hope had been affected by a linking sacrifice ritual between other kids that nearly killed them, and Rae had unintentionally linked herself to Hope and the others while trying to help them, ending up saving them in the process, but they were both still sick because they needed to be cleansed on New Orleans soil to save them.

We walked into he compound to see it still in shambles. Hayley and I put Hope and Rae down on the couch, sitting down.

Klaus looked around in distaste. "Our home. Once the pride of our family, now a flophouse."

"Indeed, the mighty have fallen," Elijah told us.

"Where's Vincent?" Hayley asked.

Vincent walked in. "Right here. Kept my word. Now the only question is whether or not you guys are gonna keep yours. As soon as I'm finished healing these kids, you got to leave the city."

"Well, we're not gonna stay, are we?" Klaus asked irritably. "Your city has lost its charm."

I stood, holding up a hand to Klaus, looking at Vincent. "What he means to say is that we're very grateful. Especially since you don't even know Rae."

"She's still just a kid," Vincent told us. "I'm not gonna let anything happen to a kid."

"Good, then just help them and we'll leave," Hayley told him.

"Just give us what we need, and we will do so happily," Elijah told him.

Vincent sighed, nodding, walking toward Hope and Rae, kneeling next to them, starting the spell to cleanse them from the spell, clapping his hands silently together in a steady, rhythmic fashion, whispering the spell. "Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer timoun. Nettoyer timoun sa a. Nettoyer..."

Vincent lightly tapped his fingers on both Hope and Rae's temples to wake them up, finishing the spell, sighing, standing.

Rae opened her eyes, looking at me. "Mom?"

I immediately walked over to hug Rae in relief, having been so scared that I would lose her again after I just got her back.

Vincent turned to us. "That's it. Your little girls are purified."

Hayley walked over to hug Hope in relief, also having been consumed with worry and fear of losing her.

Klaus looked at Vincent. "Thank you."

"No, the only gratitude I need from any of you is seeing you leave the city," Vincent told us.

Hayley sighed, looking at Hope. "Go see your daddy."

Hope nodded, smiling a weak smile, starting to walk toward Klaus.

Rae pulled away from me, looking distracted and distant.

A dead bird fell to the floor behind Hope, startling all of us. Hope gasped, turning to look at the dead bird on the floor that was now in front of her.

We heard more crows squawking, a rumbling noise that surrounded the compound, and at least a dozen dead crows falling to the courtyard floor in the shape of a circle all around Hope, encasing her in the circle of dead black birds.

Hayley was horrified, kneeling in front of Hope, turning her daughter to face her to hold her comfortingly.

"What is this?" Klaus asked.

"I don't know," Vincent told us, just as shocked as us.

Rae looked up at me. "Mom? Can you hear that?" I looked at her worriedly in concern. "It's whispers. Saying a name. Over and over. Kre nah han. Kre nah han."
