"Aobaaaaaaa!" I yelled. "Come play!" He grinned and ran outside from the kitchen before Granny could catch him. He threw off his shoes and started to chase me, both of us giggling as we ran around the empty street in front of the house.

"Come back!" I heard him yell from behind me, but I was not slowing down.

"Can't catch me!" I taunted, when suddenly, I ran into someone else, who swept me up bridal style into their arms.

"Caught you," the figure said and laughed softly. I knew that laugh. I knew it very well.

"Let go of me Koujaku!" I squealed and giggled as Aoba ran up to us, he face red from running. Koujaku laughed again and dropped me to the ground as both he and Aoba ran inside, and I knew supper was almost ready.

I was about to run after them, when I realized someone was watching me from my right. I looked at them, becoming curious as the young child I was. But before I made it very far, the figure grabbed me and covered my mouth as I let out a muffled scream of terror.

"Your the kid," the man said darkly. "The prototype."

"Let me go!" I screamed, but it came out as, "Leght mgh ghghow!"

The man held me tighter, and I felt something in my brain flick on. All innocence left my body, as I tensed and wriggled my hands free, slamming them down against the man's wrist encasing my mouth, and squeezing it as hard as I could. I heard a loud cracking noise, and the man released me, screaming in pain. I ran free, running into the house and slamming the door shut behind me, breathing hard. Tears began to fall from my cheeks.

Aoba heard me crying and quickly came to my aid, as much as twelve year olds could aid each other.

"Ayama?" He said as Koujaku came into view and I cried harder. "Ayama!"

I was different from the other children. I always had been. After that fateful night, many secrets were revealed to me. And I was never the same. I realized what ny differences restricted me from doing.

Loving a human

Playing with other children

Going to certain places

Playing Rhyme or Rib

I was an abnormal child, and not in just the normal way either. I hated it where I was. All of it.

No mother, no father. At all.

I wasn't just a random orphan that walked along the streets, I had not been born like a normal child. I didn't know what I was at the time. I just had to accept the fact that I was different and had to obey more certain rules than the other children.

Aoba understood.

He knew what it was like to be different. So did Koujaku. But I never could have planned my destiny as this, I never could have...
