Chris’ POV

Finally the product is nearly ready and then all we need is a good ruler to make this work perfect. I sighed, why does our world sound perfect when I say about my plan? Anyway, a few more tests on Alexis and the product will be ready. I’m so glad. I paid that money for her. She’s so reliable, well that’s only coz she’s under my wing.

Walking to my lab, I was greeted by Max,

“Sir,” I stopped to talk to him,

“How can I help Max?” He looked concerned,

“Well Sir, how did the meeting go yesterday?” I smiled,

“Perfect.” He relaxed...slightly, “So?” he swallowed,

“Did you tell them about you know... the side effects?” I shook my head,

“No. Why would I?” Max looked at me surprised,

“You mean they don’t even know it has side effects?” I shook my head again,

“No. I’ll repeat, why would I?” Max was now really concerned,

“But Sir...” I cut him off,

“No! This conversation is now closed.” Max still tried to continue,

“Sir...” I snapped,

“Over.”

Being in that conversation made me angry, I stormed in the lab getting ready for the next tester on Alexis, I called Jason over,

“Bring her! Wait not to soon though, I need to calm down.” I sat on my chair and rubbed my face, “Honestly Max is a pain, I wish he was more like you.” Jason nodded,

“I know how you feel but think about it, he’s the inexperience one unlike me. Me & you have been through hell & back because of our business, I’m sure we can deal with Max.” I managed to smile; Jason usually had that affect,

“Thanks J. You can get her now.”

Alexis’ POV

I sat waiting, my back leaning against the wall. I knew it was nearly that time. I closed my eyes, I wish I was free. Free to do whatever I wanted. I sighed, that’s never gonna happen is it? I looked at my hands; small holes, small enough to pass as freckles... But they weren’t. I continued looking at them; I’m so ashamed of it. I wish they weren’t there.

Suddenly I heard footsteps coming closer & closer. I closed my eyes. Jason. I re-opened my eyes, to see Jason stood there as grim as ever. I smiled; I can’t believe I liked him.

“What’s so funny?” I looked at him surprised,

“What?” His face stayed blank,

 “What’s so funny?” I pulled a smile,

“That’s twice.” His face turned distorted,

“I don’t get it.” I started to laugh for the second time in 5 years of being here, my laugh resounding throughout the whole of my cell. “Shut up!” I stopped immediately. Jason frightened me, he only shouted if he was really angry. I shrunk back to the edge of the cell like I did when I first got dumped here.

The bars of my cell moved. I felt a shadow fall over me; I looked up to see Jason standing above me,

“Get up. Now.” I immediately stood up and waited for him to tie my hands. Surprisingly his hands firmly grabbed my shoulders & lead me out of my cell. I had seen these corridors so many times but not with much freedom. We walked in silence, our footsteps in sync. Reaching the double doors, I knew exactly what was behind; I could literally picture the whole room in my mind. I shivered. Jason urged me into the room. I felt fear increase as I got closer.
