I followed Ezami back to her house, which was the area near Downtown. I haven't been to her house yet, surprisingly, but still looked the same as mine, just a different number; one three one four. We entered, and I found some streamers and cakes all over. I looked at her confusingly. Huh?
“Um, Ezami…” I trailed as Ezami saw the place and started cleaning up.
“Sorry, sorry, yesterday was…” She trailed awkwardly, avoiding any possible way to finish.
“What? What was yesterday?” I asked, suddenly interested.
“Oh, nothing, it’s nothing…” Ezami said as she pulled some ribbons down.
“Please, Ezami! Tell me!” I urged, bringing my hands together in a pleading manner.
Ezami stood there silently for a moment. “My love’s birthday.” Ezami dipped her head as she said that.
My jaw drop almost instantly. “You never told me you loved someone! Why didn’t you tell me!?” I felt slightly offended, knowing I was her best friend.
“He’s a human…” Ezami trailed guiltily. “I fell in love with a human.”
“A human!? Ezami, why didn’t you tell me!?” I exclaimed, and Ezami signaled me to be quiet. “I love Drake, and you know about him.”
“But mine I haven’t seen in about three years. He probably forgot about me.” Ezami explained sadly. “I mean, what guy really remembers for that long?”
“I know Drake would! And… Cylak… would have, too.” I put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “He’ll remember you. Now, tell me who this person is…”
“No, no, sorry. You won’t know him. It was way back when you were in seventh grade.”
“But you love him! If he loves you, he’ll remember you. It’s just how this works.” I stated, sounding matter-of-fact like.
“Please, Calia. Don’t make this more hard then it is.” She pleaded, but I caught onto her scam.
“Wait…” I trailed, putting my hand to my chin. “You said six months ago that you loved someone but he wasn’t a human.” I trailed suspiciously.
“I know. I lied.” Ezami said simply, and I slapped the back of her head lightly.
“Thanks! I see you trust me so well.” I laughed.
“I know I do.” Ezami laughed with me.
“But you have to talk to him. Call him, do something!” I exclaimed.
“But why would I do that?” Ezami asked.
“Because if it’s anything like me and Cy-” I cut off, and fixed myself. “If it’s anything like me and Drake, he will be there for you and will remember and will love you! Ezami, please trust me on this one! I know what I'm talking about.”
Ezami paused, thinking to herself. She nodded slowly. “Okay. Maybe I’ll talk to him again.” Ezami shrugged as I hugged her.
“Promise?” I whispered.
“Promise.”
We finished up our cleaning and I decided to head home. I waved to my family as I came through the door, but after that traveled to my room.
That night I laid in bed, thinking about what Ezami said. Her love? Ezami never loved anyone, at least not from what I heard before. I had to meet this guy. It was necessary.

I woke up early the next morning to get ready for classes. I left early to get away from Aaron; don't get me wrong, I loved my brother, but he could be a real stalker, kinda like the Marojas. I flew to the Academy fast, hoping Aaron wouldn’t catch up. Unfortunately the first class was Magics History, and of course, Aaron was in that class.
“Hey, why didn’t you wait for me? That got Dad worried.” Aaron said as he sat in the leaf-chair next to me.
“Because you can be a real stalker sometimes.” I said as Aaron got an insulted look on his face. I laughed at it just because it was so hilarious.
“Morning class!” Ms. Lily exclaimed as she entered the room. “Question of the day; Do any of you understand how the Animals Magic was created?”
I blanked out after that, constantly being poked by Aaron in the arm, slapping him, rinse and repeat. I didn’t like, or want, to be in any world at the moment. Couldn’t I just disappear off of both and just be alone, for just once in my life to escape all the drama?
Obviously not.
The bell rang for second, and I hurried out of there faster than the people with Speed as their Magic.
I pulled my way through all of my classes, annoyed and uncomfortable during most of them. I didn’t know why the secret with Ezami was bugging me so much. Maybe because best friends share everything? Maybe because she lied? I didn’t know.
All I knew was that we were going to have a long talk later.
“Oh, Ezami!” I called out to her at the end of the day. “It’s story time!”
“Oh my God, now?” Ezami asked as we flew back to her house.
“Yes, tell me everything!” I exclaimed as I entered the house and sat on the bed, bouncing as I landed.
“Ugh, fine.” Ezami said as she took a seat on the chair. “It was a Friday and I was at your school, you know ‘protecting’ you. You didn’t know me, but I was in a different class, and there was a new guy. He was really handsome, and the teacher assigned his seat next to mine. I said ‘hi’ and he said ‘hi’ back, and his voice just made me fly. I didn’t have my wings back then, but you know what I mean. We got to more talking, and we ended up spending our lunches together, and he switched into more of my classes. I don’t really remember him asking me out, but I do remember…” Ezami put her hands to her lips. “It was amazing.”
“Wow…” I said, amazed. “He did that for you?”
“Yeah. I mean sure, his hair was a little too blonde and a little too short, but he was really smart, and I found him cute. He was just… right for me.”
“That’s true love!” I exclaimed. “He’ll remember you! You just have to trust me!”
“Calia, I don’t know…” Ezami trailed.
“Okay, well know what?” I said, getting up from the bed. “We’re going to Earth, and we will find this guy. Come on!” I grabbed Ezami’s arm and dragged her to the door.
“Calia, no! It’ll be pointless! I bet he has a different girl in his life now.” Ezami shrieked, trying to break free.
“I will light your hand on fire if you don’t come with me.” I threatened, and my hand started to heat up.
Ezami sighed. “Fine, but you’re going to school.”
“Agreed.” I said as we headed towards Riveredge. I know Dad and Aaron are going to really ticked at me, but I couldn't stop it. I changed, and we headed towards the Fire Exit. “Promise?” I asked as we were ready to step through.
Ezami stopped for a second, but gave in. “Promise.” We stepped through.
