“Calia.” Ms. Lily called on me. “Can you tell me when the first Rare Magic was assigned?”
I jerked my head up. I hadn’t been paying attention. Like I ever did. Dad has forced me to stay in Tanyela for a little over a month, and I was still there. I bet the whole town of Sacury was looking for me, and I couldn't tell a single person. I'm betting they also figured out the whole fire incident too, and the longer I was away, the more they'd suspect me. So Dad really wasn't doing me any favors, but I wasn't in control of any of that.
“Can you answer it or not?” Ms. Lily asked impatiently, pointing to the board.
“No, I can’t.” I replied, and Aaron glared at me.
“Is there anyone else who can answer this question?” M. Lily asked, and I blanked out after that.
I had too many questions in my head. What was Sacury doing? What was Drake doing? Did Nick get the project done? Okay, I didn’t really see how that was important, but it crossed my mind. Did any of my friends miss me? Search for me? What was Vicky doing? Oh God, Vicky!
The bell rang to go to second. The rest of my classes went by slowly, all being tedious. I was ready to slam my head against my desk on the last minutes of fourth period.
When the bell rang, I was the first one out, and Ezami was there to greet me. “You’re getting good at that.” I stated, approaching her.
“Yeah, I know.” Ezami smiled back. “What are you doing for Halloween?”
“What?” I asked worriedly. Was it already Halloween?
“Yeah, Halloween’s tomorrow.” Ezami replied in a duh-like tone.
“Oh wow, I really need to get back.” I demanded. “It’s necessary.”
“Will your father let you?”
I started to walk towards Riveredge, Ezami following. “Let’s find out.”
~~~~~~~~~~
“Why would I let you!?” Dad screamed at me. “And let you do something else stupid?”
“Dad, there’s no way. I have more self-control now. I’m acing Magics Practice!” I countered.
“That doesn’t matter! I don’t care about what strength or ability you can do with fire. I want you to not bring it out on Earth!”
“Dad, come on! I’ve been here over a month! I need to prove it to you that I can be responsible!” I was sounding like I was talking to the Marojas all over again.
“Well, you can prove it here.” Dad said as he pressed a finger to my lips to shut me up. Ugh, son of a-
“Why are you turning into the Marojas!?” I screamed as I flapped my wings and flew upstairs, hair flying behind me. I entered my room and locked the door. Screw it. Screw them. I don't even need them.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey.” I greeted Ezami in the cloudy white area after I fell asleep.
“Escape plan?” Ezami asked me, and I shook my head.
“No, not yet. Anything for you?”
“Nope.” Ezami shrugged her shoulders.
“Crap.” I murmured, dipping my head. “We just gotta sneak out.”
“Agreed.” Ezami said, nodding.
“Hey, can you wake people up or just go into dreams?”
“Dreams, sorry. I don’t have Sleep Magic.”
