"Hi" I say I bit uncomfortably, making them acknowledge my presence.

"Oh! Sorry... Amara, this is Jamie. The CEO of this company." Emma brags... " And my boyfriend."

Shit!

Emma and Jamie!

How?

Don't you envy them? I mean look at them! They both look fabulous together!

My subconscious mocks at me.

And to answer my dear subconscious, No! I am not at all jealous. I had assumed that he might have moved on.

But why didn't he tell me in the morning itself when we met?

Why would he tell you stupid? And even if he did, what would he say? That, " I have a girlfriend now Amara. Stay away from me!"

My subconscious mocks again. But I think she's right, why would he tell me that? I can't expect him to tell me his relationship status as soon as we bump into each other four years later...!

" Amara?" Emma calls, breaking me from my never-ending thoughts.

" Sorry....what?" I ask her, ignoring an eye contact with Jamie.

I don't know why but it's awkward between us right now. I mean, it's not supposed to be awkward! Maybe because we didn't end our relationship properly... We have a lot left to talk about.

"Hi!" Jamie says to me as he takes a seat opposite to me besides Emma.

" Oh! And Jamie this is Amara. She just joined in today." Emma introduces me and I smile lightly at them.

" Yeah, we met earlier today." Jamie says calmly, with his hands on the table, he is slightly leaning forward.

His intense eyes never leaving me.

" Really? That's cool." Emma says.

There's no way in hell I'm going to tell Emma about our relationship. Or PAST relationship. Not for now at least!

I smile at her and think of my best to start a conversation to end this awkwardness...

" So, how long have you guys been dating each other?" I ask.

" A month."

" 3 Weeks."

Emma and Jamie say at the same time.

" She means, we met a month ago and started dating about 3 weeks ago." Jamie clarifies looking at Emma.

"...Right darling?" Jamie adds, and smiles a bit at her.

" Oh! Yeah right! Sorry... Time flies!" Emma says, looking at Jamie, me and then at her half empty plate.

Darling! He just called her darling!

Jamie was never fond of such names!

But... Things change, I guess!

" That's great!" I say, trying my best to not to sound fucking-surprised!

" So, how's your day going so far?" Jamie asks me and places his hands around Emma's waist...and Emma blushes a little.

Again!

Public display of affection!

It's so not Jamie's thing!

He's changed a LOT!

" It's great actually. I love it here!" I say, forcing myself to not to look at his hand travelling around her little waist and then to her other thigh.

" Don't you wanna eat anything babe?" Emma asks Jamie.

"No, I'm good. I already had some in my office." he tells her.

I finish my lunch as soon as possible so that I can leave them to their privacy! And get me out of this awkwardness.

" I'm done..." I say, and they look at me.

" I guess I'll just leave you guys to yourself."

I add.

" Hey, wait for a while I'm just about to finish too." Emma says.

" Yeah... You guys carry on. I was just about to leave as well." Jamie says, finally removing his hands from her waist.

" Oh... No. It's okay. I gotta make some calls too. I'll just leave. I also have to call Ryan." I say, smiling at them.

I forgot to call Ryan!!

" Oh! Okay." Jamie frowns a little.

And at this moment, I bet my life he must be thinking who the hell Ryan is.
