"Hey its Hannah, Hannah Baker-"
Lauren paused her stereo, tears brimming her eyes as she heard the voice of her deceased classmate. Her hand ran through her hair, as thoughts wandered in her mind to why she had received these tapes. Wearingly, her hand wavered over the play button, deciding whether to continue listening to a dead girls suicide tape or not. Laurens breath hitched as she pressed the button, signaling it to immediately resume playing.
"Don't adjust whatever device you're hearing this on. Its me live and in stereo. No return engagements, no encore and this time absolutely no request. Get a snack, settle in, because I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended, and if you're one of the ones listening to this tape then you're one of the reasons why. I'm not saying which tape brings you into the story, but fear not if you receive one of these lovely little boxes, then your name will pop up. I promise."
Shivers went down Lauren's spine when she heard the last sentence. What had she done to Hannah baker that would make her one of the reasons she killed herself?
Lauren removed her headphones, as she pushed herself off her bed and onto the hardwood floor. She grabbed her phone which sat on her nightstand and decided to scroll through Instagram, clearing her mind from whatever thoughts she had.
The teenager's phone vibrated, as she received a message from one of her close friends, Sheri Holland.
