Chapter 2

Z’s POV

Becca and I had done our homework after having supper and I finished well before her since she had this huge assignment due. She was getting frustrated and was annoyed by my presence of me and I decided she needed a bit of time to herself to think clearly so I decided to go to the library and check and see if there was any good books for me to read. I had finished the last ones I had and they were probably due any day so I decided to make a trip there. I grabbed the books that were scattered about my room and left Becca to think and walked outside and across the campus to our library. The librarian and I were good friends and she loved when I came and when she came across a new book that she knew I would like she would pull it off the shelf for me and hold it in the back for me. I walked in the doors and quickly found Mrs. Foote, the librarian, in the back and I dumped my books into the return box. She looked up at me and smiled.

“Well if it isn’t the famous Azarniya.” She said putting her reading glasses down back around her neck on the chain and setting down the books she was holding “I have some more books for you. I knew it wouldn’t take you that long to finish the others.”

“Thanks Mrs. Foote.”

I watched as she went into another room and pulled another stack of books for me. She was always amazed that I read the books so fast and how she wasn’t out of any for me to read yet. We both walked up to the front desk where she checked me out and I thanked her again. She went back to her work and I went back outside to go back to the dorm room and read. The sun was setting and it was a really pretty sight. I was walking slowly soaking up the last rays of the fading light and enjoying the warmth and the soft breeze blowing. I was rounding the corner of a building when a guy came running right around it and slammed right into me and we both went tumbling down. My books scattered everywhere and I hit the ground hard with this guy on top of me. I sat there dazed a bit and then realized who it was.

“Hey jeez if you didn’t want me to beat you so bad at dance it didn’t mean you had to try and injure me to get me out. Man you must be really jealous.” I said to Alexander who happened to realize at that second who he had just plowed over. He quickly pulled himself up and offered me a hand while saying.

“Ha, only in your dreams you are better than me! I don’t need you injured to win because I clearly did it today.” He smiled a big grin at me.

I couldn’t help but smile back. “Ha ha suuurreee I’m pretty sure I whipped your butt out there.”

“Believe what you want but it doesn’t change the truth” He winked at me and I laughed. We both bent down to pick up my scattered books and he handed them back to me.

“Hey, I’m really sorry about running into you. I defiantly didn’t mean to. I was just trying to get away from these, uh, girls.”

“What did they scare you away with all their drooling and batting eyelashes” He burst out laughing at that.

“Ah, dang look at your arm, I guess I did injure you.”

I looked down at my arm to see that indeed that there was a huge scrape and a cut that didn’t look to pretty running up my arm. I looked down and saw the head of one of the sprinklers for the grass where I had fallen and saw that this is what must have caused the cut.

“Oh, so you and Mr. Sprinkler head were both jealous of my dance moves and decided that you would make it look like an accident while he was the one who actually cute me.” I said this while still staring at this and let a huge grin cross my face. Alex followed my gaze and saw the sprinkler and said with a smile also

“Awww you caught us in the act. Who knew you could be so clever.”

“Ha ha very funny” I said meeting his gaze. His smile softened and faded as did mine as the pain of the cut really sunk in.
