The Not So Simple Life of Mine- Chapter One

I stared at myself in the full length mirror, wearing only my tank top and short shorts. Something I liked to call my pyjamas. I rubbed my eyes trying to clear my vision. I opened them and they went to normal, well, as normal as they can be without my glasses. My gums ached painfully; I opened my mouth and bit on my back teeth. I stared at my new braces and more pain occurred. I rolled my tongue over them, I sighed inwardly. I didn't understand why I needed braces, the only thing wrong with my teeth was that they were much too forward, but for that small little fault I had to get train tracks, I myself didn't want them, but my mother had forced me to get the treatment. My phone vibrated loudly as it was resting on one side of my bed side tables. I hopped over to see why it was vibrating. Cassidy was calling me, I groaned.

"Good Morning Star shine!" she bellowed on the phone

"You are too loud, tone down," I groaned

"Okay, okay sorry, you sound way too funny! Is it your braces? Oh my gosh it is! Ha-ha!"

"Dude! Tone it down! And does it sound that bad?!"

"Ha-ha, no, it's just me pulling your leg!"

"Whatever, I need to go brush my teeth and get changed, what shall I wear?" I asked her

"You know that grey ralph Lauren top you have? Wear that, and your skinnies, and your small Ugg's," she said.

"Hmm...Okay," I muttered as another twinge of pain erupted on my gums and teeth.

"I'll be at yours for five to eight, drive me?"

"Yeah, okay, I gotta go,"

"Okay! Bye Star shine!" she yelled on the phone, I scrunched my face up in disgust because her childhood nickname Star shine annoyed the hell out of me.

"Urgh, your annoyment is not appreciated at this time of morning," I mumbled, she giggled and I sighed and hung up on her. About three seconds later I got a text reading the following:

'Your hanging up is not appreciated either!'

I left my phone charging and I was heading towards my personal bathroom when I saw something in the mirror what I hadn't seen before. A zit. On my cheek.

I stepped closer to the mirror examining it thoroughly. Once I was certain it wasn't just a red mark that would disappear, I grabbed my night robe from the back of my door, and belted downstairs.

"MOM! Mom! Mooooom!" I bellowed

"What is it darling?" she said, from the kitchen sounding confused

"MOM! I found a ZIT!"

I ran up to her and showed her my cheek. She looked at it thoroughly. Examining it much better than I did.

"Darling, it's just a stress spot, it'll go after a few days, it's because of your exams that's all,"

"But MOM! What if it isn't?"

"Then it'll be because your probably getting your period," she said dismissively. My cheeks flushed bright red as I realized that my father and my four brothers were in the room. Being the only girl in the family was sometimes so tiring.

"Moom!" I whispered. My cheeks still flushing.

"Ella, please tie your robe," my father said quietly trying not let anyone else hear, but as always everyone did, I looked down and saw that that my tank top was lopsided from one side therefore revealing the top part of my bra. The heat in my cheeks fired even more. I sighed and did as I was told, all my older brothers had smirks on their faces, and they were smirking at embarrassment.
