Today was the day Seth and I were going to go on our first date. He was going to pick me up and take me there.

I got rid of that nasty plain hospital smell with a shower, and curled my hair down my back. I wore a white skater dress with a red plaid flannel shirt over it, with a pair of black cheepo flip-flops.

My parents seemed surprised I had a boyfriend. Didn’t they know?

Before I could think anymore, I heard the bell ring. I’ve been sitting in the foyer for ten minutes, just waiting for him. I was early, he was on perfect time.

I waited a few seconds before answering the door because I didn’t want to seem desperate. When I opened it, there he was, in the same red flannel, with a white shirt and khaki shorts.

“I saw you sitting next to the door.” He caught me.

I felt so red. I let out a small laugh. “And I didn’t know we had the same flannel. Have you been stalking me?” I crossed my arms.

“Touché,” he winked. I rolled my eyes playfully and we hopped into his black Jeep.

“So where is this so called lake place, hm?” I leaned into his seat. He smelled like a manly cute mix of cologne and soap. It would make any girl fawn over him without seeing his gorgeous face.

“Well,” he said, backing out of my driveway. My legs were already stuck sweaty onto the leather seats. It had to be summer. “It’s right next to Adelaide Park actually.”

I remembered Adelaide Park as a kid. It’s where all the soccer games were. “There’s a lake there?”

He nodded, “A romantic hot spot.”

I didn’t feel distant from Seth at all. I felt like I didn’t lose my memory at all and we were an everyday couple. Being around him, I felt extremely happy, like I had a piece of my forgotten past back.

The park was so cute. The grass was trimmed and pastel green. Yellow flowers and Dandelions covered the field. Families and couples spread out their brightly colored blankets that over looked the lake. People even had kayaks.

We spread out the blanket and plopped down with the basket.

“Okay wait, this doesn’t seem like your type.” I shook my head.

“What do you mean?” He gave me a knowing smirk.

“It just seems like you don’t like all this stuff.” I shrugged. “Take me somewhere else. Somewhere you want to go.” This seemed too girly for Seth, too sensitive. He appeared so much more tough and risky.

“Hey, but this was our first date.”

“I don’t care, let’s recreate for the time being.” I started to pack up all over again.

He didn’t tell me where we were going, but kept quiet the whole time. I knew he wasn’t mad because he was smiling. I had to smile too.

Seth brought me to Rocky’s Amusement Park. I was always too young for my parents to bring me here. It was more of a young adult hang out for the local towns. This seemed like more of Seth’s place.

He took my hand and led me to a roller coaster. “Now, don’t tell me you’re scared?”

I shook my head furiously. “Course not!”

“Good.”

After we went on all the rides, our stomachs started to rumble. We got corndogs with mustard and fries.

“Having fun?” He asked while taking a bite out of his second corn dog.

“As long as we don’t go on another ride, or I’ll be sick.”
