Chapter 2: he knew from the beginning

I couldn’t stop stare at him. The way he smiled, the way he talked and his politeness, that was very Mushroom. I didn’t dare to ask him because I was afraid that he was not Mushroom or if he is Mushroom perhaps he forgot me already. He also just knew that my name is Taeyeon, but not more than that. I sipped my apple juice, but my eyes were not in my glass but in his face. Why he just resembled my Mushroom so much? His soft voice woke me up. “What are you looking at? Is something wrong with my face?”. He asked me politely. I didn’t know why but I immediately compared him with Stephan. I smiled when I guessed what he will say if I stared at him intensively. He will not say whether something wrong with his face, he will be say whether he is so handsome. I giggled and said, “Oh. Nothing. I just feel we ever met somewhere.” I was really nervous talking with him. Yuri turned his head to me. She raised her thumb and without any sound said, “Fighting!” I gave my death glare to her and that made her continued singing again with Sunny and two guys beside them. I saw her whispered to Sunny. I knew she must be talked about me. I could sense Sunny tried so hard to not turn her head to me. I just knew one thing. I’ll be death when I reached my apartment because they will tease me non-stop. I almost dropped my glass because of Yuri and Sunny, but Daniel helped me out. “Ah, I’m sorry.” I made her shirt wet. “No problem.” He smiled and cleaned it up with the tissue. “So, are they your friends?” He pointed to Sunny and Yuri. I nodded and introduced them. “They are Sunny and Yuri. Are Jaejoong and Yunho your friends?” Then he told me about them. Jaejoong and Yunho were his friends in the elementary school when he studied in Korea. Since this year he was coming back to study again here, they made this blind date as his homecoming party. Gosh. He ever visited Korea when he was in elementary school. Checked. “So, you have visited Korea before, right.” He nodded. Then he drank his juice. I just sat quietly beside him. I really didn’t know what I have to do. There was a big possibility that this guy that sat beside me is my Mushroom. I still couldn’t accept the reality. If this guy is really my Mushroom… that means… ~~~~~~~~ Daniel drove me home. I just hoped that Stephan was not there. I knew he understood from beginning that this relationship between me and him was not a real relationship. He could go out with any women that he likes and I also could still wait for my Mushroom. Even so, I still felt guilty if I interested to other men. I even felt guilty if I was thinking about Mushroom. “Finally your apartment.” Daniel said with little bit Korean language limitation. But it was so cute to hear that. “Yup, thank you. If it wasn’t Yuri and Sunny who left me with their new guys, you don’t have to drive me home.” He smiled and said, “It’s okay. It was a pleasure to accompany a pincess. Feeling like a prince.” Taeyeon blush. He smirked and said, “I hope, there will be a next date, so I can have a chance to know you more.” He raised his eyebrow. I smiled happily. How can I reject his offer? I nodded and waved to him while he went away. I looked into my cell phone. I had his number already. I walked to my apartment. Before I reached my apartment lobby, there was a basket ball drooling over in front of me. I turned my head back and I saw Stephan stood there. I couldn’t read his expression but from his smile, I could feel that he was getting cold. Perhaps he waited me too long in the outside. I eagerly to know whether he saw me with Daniel, I asked him immediately. “Stephan, did you….” Before I could finish my sentence he grabbed my hand and we walked to a place. I knew this direction, a basketball field, a couple of blocks from my apartment. He smirked at me. “Dare to do one on one?” He grabbed the basket ball from my hand. “You will lose, just like other time.” “You will never know.” He started dribbling and I was on defense mode. This night, different with other nights. He seemed really determined and I really couldn’t stop him. More than a year I knew him, I had always thought that his basketball ability was below me. But now I know it is wrong. I even couldn’t match his rhythm. He was way too fast. After 10 shots in row. He stopped it. “I won.” He smiled. With his usual devil smile. “Taeyeon, I just wanted you to know. I always want you to be happy. That’s why I always pretend to lose in front of you before. But now, I just want you to know, I’m Stephan Hwang don’t like to be a loser. How was your date with that American guy?” Now I had understood. It was all about Daniel. Perhaps, I had to tell him. The possibility that Daniel could be my Mushroom. “Stephan, if Daniel is my Mushroom. What will you do?” He turned away his body. I just could see his back. He answered firmly. “I will never let you go. You are mine from beginning. Your first kiss is mine and since that point, you’ll be forever mine. I will not let you go. Forever.” My eyes were full with tears. He answered firmly and it really touched my heart. Before this, he had always said that he will let me go if I find my Mushroom. I hugged him from behind. I almost slipped to say those three words but suddenly he turned and said, “How was it? I thought it really touching you. Those lines are from my first movie. See, I will soon release a movie! How exciting was that!” So, that means, those lines just from his movie’s script? I released my hug to him. I felt so disappoint. I walked away from him. He ran from behind. “I will start filming my first movie soon. Let us celebrate it tonight.” “I don’t care.” “Come on Taeyeon. With mushroom cream soup and banana milk shake? Fresh from my hand!” He still tried to joke with me. “I don’t care.” “Come on Taeyeon…” I cried and shouted in front of his face. “I don’t care! Don’t you hear me! I don’t care with you Stephan! I don’t care! Just go away please.” I closed my apartment door immediately. I knew he has key. “Okay.” I heard him answered it and I could hear his steps walking away from my door. I didn’t know why I cried. I kneeled down and covered my face. I should be happy because Stephan didn’t mind with Daniel, but why I felt so sad now.
