I woke up on the wet bed, staring at the dead corpse which was decomposing and leaving a green tray of fungus on the floor. I left the hospital and kept heading north, where people say it's safe. My stomach was asking for food, so I opened my backpack and started opening a metal tin from which I started eating. The sun rays were reflecting on the wet road, following me everywhere I went... Hours later I arrived at a market and decided to search for supplies. I opened the broken, glass door, and entered the room. Most of it was looted, but I was able to find some bullets, water, and a shirt, which was in a perfect condition.
By the time I left the market, I saw a herd of zombies heading towards me, most probably, the loud squeek of the glass door alarmed them. I went towards the backdoor, in a desperate attempt to escape, heading towards a dense forest. I hid in a bush and waited for them to leave. I could hear footsteps in the grass but I couldn't look through the dense, green leaves of the bush. A metal barrel pointed towards me, touching my forehead. I closed my eyes and waited for my death but right before I hear the trigger, a thick voice reaches to my ears:
"Are you one of them?"
I told him I wasn't and he slowly took his finger off the trigger, lowering his rifle towards the ground. He gave me his hand and raised me up. He told me to follow him and so I did. He lead me to his shelter, which was hidden in the hearth of the forest, surrounded by spikes and barbed wires, with people guarding all corners of the house. Inside, it was warm and clean, he had electricity and food. He told me I could stay if I could help him with a few things. Without hesitation, I said yes.
He needed wood to fortify his windows and fences, the only thing was that his axe got lost after he threw it in a zombie in order to help one of the survivors. He needed a few items before he could craft another pickaxe, therefore he asked me to find some metal and the strongest stick I could find. The closest source of metal was from an abandoned factory nearby, and so I went, heading to the factory. The doors were closed and the windows were barricaded. My only entrance ticket was to jump the fence through the back of the factory, the only problem was that four meters of nothing but air were standing in my way to the factory so I looked around for another entrance but hopefully, I found an old pillow which was hanging by a tree. I threw the pillow over the fence then jumped. Loud metal noises were coming from the inside so I decided to crouch and try to sneak in. I opened the large door and entered. The factory was infested with flesh eating zombies, one sound, and I'm was dead. Sweat was washing of the mud from my face as I tried to reach the second floor in which a big metal piece was, which seemed perfect for the axe. The only thing was how I could get there. I went out and collected a couple rocks which I then threw one by one in order to distract the zombies. I took the metal piece and left, the door loudly closing behind me. Every zombie from the area was coming towards me... I took the pillow, threw it back on the other side and jumped over the fence while a zombie broke through the fence successfully grabbing my leg, I took the metal part and threw it in his head, crushing his skull and throwing him dead to the ground.
I returned back in the forest and had to complete my second quest, finding a wood rod.
Heading towards the lake I felt a cold wind behind the back of my neck, and then some fringes, I stopped for a little and sat down near a tree. Near it, a strong wood pipe which seemed perfect for the axe was laying, I took it and headed back to the shelter. As I waited for the man to craft the axe, I went around the house to meet the other people. One of them was a strong, bald man while the other three were skinny and hungry, I went to talk to them but as I got closer my vision started fading and I fell to the ground unconscious.
I woke up in a dark, cold, room. There was a slightly opened door from which few light rays were striking against the walls of the room. I stood up and opened the door, the crew was talking by the fireplace about something, I couldn't hear much as my hearing was still numb and my sight was fade. The walls by my side were covered in blood, probably mine, but I was not sure what happened to me. Some rags and antibiotics were on a wooden drawer. I stepped into the light and opened my mouth, trying to moan some words out. As my hearing slowly began to recover, I heard someone asking for a bottle of water while the rest were just staring at me. They kept asking me if I am with them and I always replied with nothing but sounds. They took me and put me on a couch, got me some water and then told me:
"You got a cold, you need to rest."
