Interviewing The Nordics

(Fyi- I will be assuming genders unless you tell me. Please feel free to correct me a comment or something.)
A moment passed without a hand being raised.
"Well not all at once, everybody." Denmark said which caused a few laughs in the crowds.
After a hand in the crowd appeared.
"The young lady in the front." Norway pointed to her. "What's your question?"
"Why were you all gone for so long?"
"Oh. Good question." Denmark looked up as if he was thinking. "It was a while ago."
"Well, first we never went anywhere so gone may not be the right word." Iceland told the crowd. "We more went under the radar so humans would forget us."
"I think why was...uh what was it.." The Dane leaned back in his chair.
"It was kinda like a natural progression." Sweden spoke up. "I think it just kinda happened."
"What? No." The nation with spiky hair said. "Because there was something that triggered it."
"Nej. It just happened." Sweden said.
"I think it depends on the Nation..." Finland thought aloud.
"I'm telling you something triggered it." 
"Nej. There wasn't."
"Did you two even hear Fin?" Iceland asked looking over.
The two nations continued on with their debate.
"They do this sometimes." Finland said.
"I do believe Finland's right though." Norway told the crowd, ignoring the two next to him. "It depends on the Nation. I went in hiding cause everyone else was and there wasn't any real benefit to staying known, I suppose."
"I can't remember, honestly." Iceland said. "I was too young."
"I had a long debate with my boss about it." Finland said.
Those three looked to the still debating nations in between them.
"Clearly they don't remember." Norway took a drink of water.
"Sve, it's time for the next question."
Sweden nodded.
"But we didn't answerdid, did we?" Denmark looked at his fellow Nordics.
