I woke up at sunrise. I could smell the frying of bacon and I could hear the squeak of Mom's sneakers. I got up, stretched, then headed to the bathroom to get ready for Taekwondo practice. I tied up my jet black hair.
I really don't look adopted. I have black hair and green eyes just like Mom. "Alexia, come on or you're going to be late!" I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder.
Mom kissed my cheek as I headed out the door. Mom and I had to take separate cars because she had to go kickboxing practice.
I tied my red belt around my ki and walked into the studio. I slipped in hoping Master Kyo wouldn't notice me.
"Luthor!" I jumped. "Yes sir?" I stood up. "Since you just waltzed in 10 minutes late, get in the sparring circle with Grant."
Kristie C. Grant, daughter of Cat Grant and my best friend. Kristie had that evil look on her face. Kristie is one of two reasons I'm taking Taekwondo. Kristie, a black belt, loves beating the crap out of me, the unsuspecting red belt.
I never took my eyes off of her left hand. Kristie gets me with a left jab every time. She twitched her left hand and I got ready. "Begin!" Just as I predicted, she tried that left jab and I leaned just enough for her to miss it. I slid my hands up her arm and around her elbow, all in one fluid movement. I flipped her onto the mat. "Good counter, Luthor." I helped Kristie up and we bowed. I got home and Mom was sitting on the couch with her laptop in her lap. "How was taekwondo?" Mom asked never looking up from her laptop. "I finally floored Kristie Grant." I said sipping my energy drink. "You need to slow down on those Monsters." Mom preached. I finished what was left of the drink in my hand and trashed it. I went to my room, hopped in the shower, and put on my Supergirl tank top, blue jeans and red hightop Converse. I plopped on the couch in the living room and Mom gave me a death stare. "Ready to go, darling?" Mom asked letting her American accent fade completely. I never tried to hide my Irish accent. "Mé a bheith réidh le haghaidh an 5 nóiméad caite. (I have been ready for the last 5 minutes.) I said in Irish. "Watch your tone, young lady." She said with ice in voice.
