I had always been the quiet kid at school; the one who sat alone on the grass during lunch, the one who never raised her hand in class, afraid to speak up, and the one who had to be told many times to speak up when called. It wasn't that I was afraid to speak up. It was that I was not good with public speaking, and I could only embarrass myself so many times. School was hell for me. Period. I could have easily made friends, but I chose not to. There was only one person who was there for me: Meredith.
I shoved my books into my locker, although they weren't doing a very good job of fitting. My locker was already pilled high with crap. I pushed a piece of blonde hair away from my face, but it floated back. Frustrated, I started to braid my long hair to the side. I tied a small rubber band around the end and focused back on my locker. I was just about to grab my science textbook when I felt a presence behind me, and given the excessive amount of cologne, I could tell exactly who it was . . . . Brandon.
"Hey," I heard him whisper softly from behind.
Ignoring him, I shut my locker and began to walk to chemistry. He easily matched my pace, "Are you ignoring me?" He asked, with sarcasm in his voice. "I think you're ignoring me."
"I'm trying very hard to," I said through my teeth. The boy needed to learn that I didn't want him around. Never did, never will. I was doing fine without him, thank you very much, and I sure as hell didn't need another person budging themselves their way into my life.
"C'mon, don't be like this." He grabbed my arm, and I was pulled into a corner. I tugged at my arm uselessly, even though I knew he was far stronger than me.
Girls gave us--me--glares as they passed us by, "Let me go, we're bothering people," I stated with irritation. When he refused to let me go after several tries of pushing and pulling, I exclaimed, "Fuck, you're an asshole!"
He rolled his eyes and pulled me in the janitors closet. My futile attempts that hadn't worked before finally became a success. I violently shoved him away from me, and he backed away with his hands up. "What is your problem?"
"You've been ignoring me, that's what's my problem."
"I don't see the problem here," I started to open the door but it was closed before it was even opened an inch.
"The problem is, you're my mate, and you're not supposed to be ignoring me. You're supposed to be in my arms," He said softly.
I scoffed, "I am certainly not your mate. Just because our parents want us to be together, does not make me want to, and it certainly does not make me your mate," I spit out, "I don't get to choose who my mate it, no one does, not me, not you, and certainly not my parents."
"I can prove you're my mate," he reached out and pulled me to him, his arms encircling my waist.
"Get your hands off me, I swear if you don't this instant, I will -" he cut me off, and I instantly felt his lips smash onto mine. My eyes popped open. Instinctively, I raised my hands and tried to push him off, yet his arms snaked around me and pulled me towards his chest. His tongue forced my lips apart and explored. Panic set into me. My flat hands balled into fists and beat violently against his chest.
He pulled away smirking, "Do you believe me now, love?"
"If you do that again, I swear, I will personally go to your house and kill you while you're asleep." I shoved him again, but he tightened his grip around my waist, pulling me closer.
"I loved every part of that sentence, though the last part was a bit extreme; I would love for you to come over and I am sure your parents would also."
He removed one arm from my waist and trailed down to my back pocket, pulling my phone out, I slapped his hand, causing to to laugh slightly.
"What are you doing with my phone?" I demanded, I made an attempt to grab it, but he nipped at my hand.
"Oww," I glared at him, "What was that for?"
"Just playing around," he smirked, "Just so you know, your parents think that you and I have finally clicked and insist that you come over."
"Oh hell no," there was no way in hell that I was coming over to his house, it was pure torture there.
"May I remind you of that one time, back in the field, oh that was a lovely time," I winced at the thought of the memory, "That's right, love. So I suggest if you do not want your parents knowing, that you play along, understand, sweetheart?"
My life was going to start to be a living hell, and there was nothing I could do about it, I had no choice. I just nodded.
