I wake up to the sound of bushes moving. What could it be? A mouse or a rabbit, maybe even a deer. Well, whatever it is, I'm starving. I haven't eatten anything all day, even she hasn't eatten. This will do us good. I stand up under the tree and peek out. A human is standing a few feet away. Shoot we can't go out there, I can't even let her change and sort this out for she won't have anything on and by the look of this human, it's male.
What should I do? Should I run or should I wait? I'll wait it out, maybe it won't even bother waiting for anything. I lay back down by the tree and flick my tail slowly as if I made one single sound the world around me would explode. I paw at the ground leaving paw prints everywhere. Man, does this human take a while to leave. I mean hasn't it noticed there's nothing here?
'What's going on?' God does her voice in my head annoy me. Like seriously, why can't Callie just shut up?
'Nothing at all.' I snap at her.
She makes a sound that I guess was supposed to be a growl. 'Don't you dare lie to me.'
'Fine. You really wanna know? There's a human just outside this tree, and by the look, it's male. Don't dare start the change either. Yes, you have that bag of clothes and whatever else you packed but with all the movement it's sure to find us.'
'O-oh... Well, tell me when he's gone. I want my freedom back.'
It takes everything I have to not snap at her. I know that if I do I'm sure to make some sort of sound that will atract the human. So instead I ignore her, she was probably trying to start a fight anyway. Being trapped in the back of someone's mind, the darkest corner, is hard. It can get extremely lonely back there and it is pretty scary. I start to feel sorry for the poor girl, I treat her like everyone else does. Actually, I will tell her when the human is gone, it can't be too much longer now can it?
I decide to check if the human is still waiting. Sure enough it's still there but now it's got a little campfire set up. I guess we're going to be here for a while unless the human decides it wants to go hunt or something. I walk back over to the trunk of the tree and lay down again. I try to keep my eyes open but they slowly start to droop on me.

I bolt awake realizing I've fallen asleep. Maybe the human is gone now, I must go check. Standing up I stretch my legs then walk towards the edge of the tree. The human isn't anywhere in sight so I guess it's safe to tell her to start the change if she wants to.
'The human is gone for now. You may start the change if you want to.'
She doesn't even answer me before I feel my bones start to grind and change. I can feel my ears falling into that human shape and my fur is disappearing as her human skin starts to appear. My paws start to turn into hands and that's all I can handle. My vision begins to blur and that's when I know I'm back in that dark corner of her mind. She has control once again.
